Carved Hiking Sticks - Make Your Own

Posted on Sabtu, 31 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

What do you need to make your own hand carved hiking sticks? A pocket knife and a walk in the woods. Be sure your knife is solidly built. You don't need more than a three-inch blade, but it needs to be strong enough that it won't snap on you when you hit a knot in the wood. A locking blade is a good idea too, if you value your fingers.

What type of wood should you use? Any type you want, but be aware of the differences. Many people like hardwood hiking sticks because they can be very beautiful once polished up. That's fine if you don't mind the extra work it takes to carve hardwoods. Also be aware that they are heavy, better suited for decorating the cabin than for using on long hikes.

One of my favorite trees for carved hiking sticks is poplar. It's light, and one of the easiest woods to work with. Young poplars often grow in over-crowded stands, so cutting a few out won't hurt the forest. If you cut it in the spring or early summer, you can almost peel the bark off by hand.

Northern White Cedar is a much tougher wood to carve, but it is beautiful, straight, and one of the lightest. In a cedar swamp, you can find many dead young cedars that have not begun to rot. Cedar lasts forever, it seems, even when used untreated as fence posts.

Making Your Carved Hiking Stick

What if you don't know your trees? Find a straight young tree in any area that could use thinning, and cut it. A short saw is the easiest way to cut your stick. Otherwise, you can use your knife, by cutting deeper and deeper in a circle around the tree until you can snap it off. Cut the piece a bit longer than you want your finished hiking stick to be.

How long should it be? A general rule is to have the hiking stick come up to just below your armpit. This is a personal thing though. If you want a fancy seven-foot staff, go for it.

Cut away from yourself, removing all the bark. Narrow down the bottom end, but not to a sharp point. You can leave the top flat, round it off, or even carve a spiral design into it. Use you imagination. Almost any piece of sandpaper can be used to smooth it, and you can apply stain or a poly acrylic finish if you want, or just leave it natural.

If you start with green wood, it is best to let it dry for at least a few weeks. Carving it while green can be easier, but it will often twist or bend then as it dries. You might prevent this by tying it to something straight to dry. Each wood is a little different in how it cuts and drys.

I wrap the bottom end with leather (with a small nail to hold it) to keep the stick from splitting. I also usually put a handgrip on it. This can be a piece of cloth or leather. Glue it on or glue and staple it. You can also drill a hole throught the stick near the top, to add a wrist strap.

Get creative. Use a wood burner to add designs to your hiking stick. Drill a hole in the top and glue a glass ball in it. Mark inches on it, so you can measure with it. Some of my best sellers had pewter animals nailed to them. Experimenting is one of the best parts about making your own carved hiking stick.

Born on May 29, 1984, Carmelo Anthony attended college at Syracuse and currently plays for the NBA’s Denver Nuggets. As a freshman in college, he was named Second-Team All America by the Associated Press. Anthony led the team to the school’s inaugural NCAA Championship in men’s basketball. In addition, Carmelo Anthony was named as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2003 Final Four and East Regional.

Carmelo Anthony began his professional basketball career in 2003 after being drafted third by the Denver Nuggets. During an outstanding rookie season, Anthony played in all 82 seasonal games and averaged 21 points per game. He received a unanimous vote for the NBA All-Rookie First Team and became the first NBA rookie to lead a playoff team in scoring since the 1989-1990 season. In 2004, he won a bronze medal as a member of Team USA during the 2004 Summer Olympics.

During the 2004-2005 season, Carmelo Anthony played and started in 75 games and averaged 20.8 points. In late December, he missed five games due to a sprained ankle, first one the left and another on the right. Earlier that month, he scored the 2,000th point of his career and became the third youngest player in NBA history to reach that milestone. During the 2005-2006 season, Carmelo Anthony averaged an impressive 26.5 points per game, 4.90 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

Off of the court, Carmelo Anthony has shown his dedication extends well beyond basketball as he believes in giving back to the community. In an effort to aid in the Asian Tsunami relief efforts, Carmelo Anthony agreed to donate $1,000.00 for every point scored against San Antonio during a January 8, 2005 game and also against Houston on January 9, 2005. When all was said and done, that donation totaled $35,000.00. In addition, he hosted ‘A Very Melo Christmas,’ which brought joy to hundreds of children who participated in a festive holiday party.

Standing 6'8" tall and weighing 230 lbs., his full name is Carmelo K. Anthony. He has two brothers, one sister, and two dogs. Fans who would like to request a signed photo or simply send Carmelo Anthony their best wishes are urged to do so in care of his NBA franchise team. If you are requesting an autograph, be sure to include a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) along with your request. Popular items to have signed include blank index cards, trading cards and photographs. It is recommended that fans not send any item that they cannot afford to lose, such as prized possessions and/or limited edition collectibles. As with all mailed autograph requests, there is no guarantee of a reply. For this reason, many fans simply prefer to request a signed photo. Depending on the athlete’s schedule, autographs may be authentic, secretarial, pre-printed or even impossible to provide. Patience is the key to requesting autographs by mail, especially when you are talking about an athlete as popular as Carmelo Anthony. Letters and requests should be mailed to:

Caring For Your Pool Cue

Posted on Kamis, 29 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

We all know that regular cleaning and maintenance is needed in order to keep your pool table in playable condition. Another thing to keep in mind when thinking about your game is properly caring for your pool cue. Here are some simple ways to ensure that you get the most out of the life of your pool cue.

Pool cues are made out of many different materials. Each of these materials expand and contract differently due to temperature leaps from hot to cold. To keep this down to a minimum, make sure you don't keep your cue in a damp basement or a hot attic. Even leaving your cue out in the car for a short period of time can severely warp the components in the stick. Keeping your cue away from humidity and moisture is another way to lengthen its life. Most of the materials used in a pool stick will absorb water, which will cause swelling. This in turn makes the joints loosen and become brittle. The ideal temperature for a pool cue is between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit with moderate humidity.

Some people take their cues for granted. They will toss it on a table, throw it on the floor, or prop it against the wall. These actions can permanently damage the cue by warping the butt and shaft. A cue rack http://www.gameroompimps.com/Cue-Racks-and-Game-Room-Cabinets.html is an easy way to keep your cue from warping. The cue rack holds them upright without applying pressure to any part of the shaft, decreasing the risk of warping and bending. Cases are also a way of keeping your cue in shape. If you travel to play and take your cue with you, it is highly recommended to purchase a case. Not only does it keep your cue from warping, but it protects it from scratches, breaks, and sunlight.

Since the pool cue is constantly in your hands and your hands capture grit such as oils from foods, cigarette smoke, perspiration, chalk, and soda, you need to wash your cue to slow down damage. You will want to use a soft cloth doused in soapy water. Never use a kitchen pad or anything harsh. This will further damage the cue. After wetting the cue, you will need to immediately wipe the cue down with a different clean, dry cloth. After the "bath", it is recommended to rub the cue down with a wax or furniture polish. This will help protect your cue until the next game.

Caring For Your Foosball Table

Posted on Rabu, 28 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Ever feel like you need to clean your foosball table? Well, in actuality, you are supposed to keep up with maintenance for your table so your game won't be ruined. Here are some tips to help you correctly care for your foosball table.

All game tables and game room furniture need some sort of upkeep. Even if it simply means dusting. For foosball cleaning purposes, it is recommended to use rubbing alcohol, 70% by volume. It evaporates and will not damage any components of the table. An easy way to use this is by pouring some into a spray bottle. This allows for even distribution on the area you're cleaning. Make sure you clean the table top and scrub away at any ball marks preferably once a week. A dirty table makes for poor play, so make sure you get into the corners and thoroughly wipe your table down. Also, if you clean the insides of the goals and ball return, it will in turn, help keep your balls clean.

Since we're talking about the game balls, let's discuss how to clean those! A common method is to put them in the washing machine with a small load of non colored clothing. If you plan on doing this, make sure you don't wash them with anything that could cause lint build up. The purpose is to clean the balls, not layer on more dirt. Always make sure to wash or clean your balls with a non colored cloth. If you use a colored on, it will most likely alter the color of the balls. If you don't like the idea of placing them in the washer, you can simply clean them with the same rubbing alcohol you use for the table. Make sure to never scrape the balls as this will make them too slick to play with. If you need them to dry, always air dry them. DO NOT put them in the dryer!

Last but not least, we have to talk about the rods. It is adviseable to clean your rods with a towel every week. This will help keep them slick enough to move freely. When the time comes to lube your rods, we suggest using a silicone lubrication. When using the silicone, you have to make sure you don't use too much. A little goes a long way! Make sure you don't get any on the table, handles, or the ball. This could completely ruin your game! When applying the silicone, make sure you slowly turn the rod as you apply. This will evenly spread the silicone over the rod. Most people tend to move the rods back and forth to spread the lubricant, but this actually causes the silicone to scrape off in the bearing. Basically, it would be a waste of time!

Simply follow these tips and I guarantee you will have a clean foosball table that plays like new! If you need any other information about foosball tables or other game room games tables, please visit our website!

Capture the Perfect Snowboarding Moment Using These Tips

Posted on Selasa, 27 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar
Another growing aspect of snowboarding is photography. Yes! Snowboarding pictures are part of the sport's culture. Taking snowboard riders at their best form has created a great interest for photographers. Now if you are newly venturing into this quest, there are three things that you should consider.

Extreme Weather Condition

You should know how to handle your camera in cold conditions. The primary problem that you will encounter with your camera is cold temperature. Batteries most often do not work in very cold conditions. It may also affect the camera's shutter and your film.

To keep your camera and batteries warm when dealing with cold weather, keep them inside the parka and close to your body. Take them out only when you are prepared to shoot. However, it will be a problem if you have a huge camera. But if you are only taking pictures for souvenir, then a smaller camera will do. Meanwhile, if you are taking professional pictures, then get the best camera you can afford and try to keep it as warm as you can.

Timing and Sharp Focus

When taking a snowboarding picture, you want to capture the agility of the rider and the illusion of speed. To capture that moment, you need great timing and very sharp focus. You have to get yourself in the right position and be in the right location to have a clear visual of the subject and to have a good chance of photographing the moment. However, it will still be very difficult to take a shot without coordinating with the snowboarder. So instead of waiting for the right time, plan the right time.

Have an agreement with the snowboarder about simple signals, location, and the time you will need to set up for the winning shot. Once you have this arranged, agree on what kind of poses you are looking for. It is important to communicate to the subject what you want to capture on film. Before choosing a location, try to survey whether there is enough room for you to move and cover. Meanwhile, when giving signals, it is better to use verbal signs but if that is not possible try to have clear non-verbal signals that both you and the snowboarder will understand.

Pay also special attention on your camera. You have to be adept in using your camera to avoid losing a split second chance of shooting a great snowboarding photo. Run a few shots to check if everything is working. Most importantly check the film. You don't want to put all your efforts in vain when you find out that your film has been exposed or you simply forgot to bring enough of them.

Film Exposure

Another terrible problem that you might encounter when taking pictures is film exposure. Most often than not, your camera is dealing with too much light. The snow is bright. The sky is bright. Both these elements appear nicely on your film but when you take a picture of your subject, he becomes a dark silhouette. To remedy this problem, you can use a light filter to control the light of the background as well as the subject. This will place light on where you want it to be. You should also you fill flash, this way you will avoid having dark silhouettes on your subject.

You may also encounter having bluish colored pictures especially when you are in a high altitude and surrounded with snow. A good solution to these problems is using a UV filter. It will lessen the blue light. This is very useful when you are taking snowboarding pictures at higher altitudes.

Considering these factors will help you come up with great snowboarding photos. Treat your camera as an extension of yourself by protecting it from cold, so that like your body it can function well. Plan the things that you need to do to capture the moment that you want. Lastly, invest on your camera. Add devices that will help you immortalize the perfect moment on your film.

Caribbean Stud Poker: How to Play

Posted on Senin, 26 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Caribbean Stud Poker is gradually gaining in popularity as compared to its stud twin: Texas Holdem mainly because it is an easier game to learn and you can play it face to face and still enjoy.

Originating in the Caribbean and based loosely on five card stud poker rules, this game offers a fan alternative to traditional table games with an opportunity to place a side bet and hit a big jackpot too. Some of these jackpots are progressive and you can win millions of dollars if you break those machines or tables..

What is Caribbean Stud?
It is not a traditional poker game in the sense that you play against the other players and the best player wins the pot. Caribbean stud belongs to the family of games including Pai Gow poker, Let it Ride and Three Card poker for example, where your opponent is the dealer and your goal is to form a better poker hand than the dealers hand. However, basic knowledge of traditional poker hand ranking is required.

The Rules of Playing Caribbean Stud:
1) The game begins with the players placing an ante bet at the same amount as the table minimum on the ante circle on the table.
2) At the same time, you should decide whether to place an additional side bet for the progressive jackpot.
3) Then, the dealer deals each player five face down cards plus four face down cards and one up to himself.
4) After looking at your cards, you should decide whether to fold or to call. If you decide to call, you should place an additional bet double the amount of your former ante bet.
5) After all the players have made their decisions, the dealer shows his hand. In order to qualify in a Caribbean stud poker game, the dealer must have an ace and a king or better. If he does not qualify, you will be paid back your ante bet but the call bet is a push.
6) If the dealers hand qualifies, he compares hands against each of the players individually. If his hand is better than yours is, you lose both your ante and your call bets.
7) If your hand is better than the dealers hand, you would be paid even money for your ante while for your call you would be paid according to a paytable. The paytable can vary from one casino to another. Generally, US casinos pay out 50:1 on a straight flush; 20:1 on four of a kind; 7:1 on full house; 5:1 on a flush; 4:1 on a straight; 3:1 on three of a kind; 2:1 on two pairs and even money on one pair or less.
In case your hand and the dealers hand are even, both ante and raise will push.

One of the reasons that Caribbean stud poker is so popular is the option of placing a one dollar side bet and winning a large progressive jackpot prize. In order to qualify for the bonus payout you should have a flush or better. For a flush, you would be paid a 50 dollars bonus and in order to win the jackpot that usually resets from 10,000 dollars, you must have a royal flush. However, your chances to hit a royal flush are estimated as about 650,000 to 1, therefore I would recommend skipping it.

Can The England Team Retain The Ashes In Australia?

Posted on Minggu, 25 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

I am from England and love the sport of cricket. In my opinion the ashes series of 2005 was one of the most exciting sporting events that I have ever witnessed. The Australian team which is without question the best side in the world were out battled, out thought and out played by a determined England side. The question is whether the English team can retain the ashes in Australia in 2006.

Since that historic home victory against the Aussies, the English cricket team have not exactly set the cricket world alight. There are a number of reasons for this of course, including a large number of injuries. Players such as the captain Micheal Vaughan have been unable to play which has had an obvious negative impact on the team as a whole.

A message for you Aussies, our boys will be back to inflict even more misery on your team!

A tour to countries like Pakistan and India are not exactly the most tempting of trips. Not so much about the the teams they are facing of course but more the conditions and all round differences in the way of life. This of course should be no excuse and the Aussies themselves always seem to be successful in these countries.

On their return to the UK the English team soon took out their anger on a poor Sri Lankan team.

So can this English team retain the ashes in Australia? The answer is without doubt a big yes. Some would say the first test is so important. Maybe, if England win it I think it is all over, no way back for the Australians I mean. Maybe not, if the Aussies win the first test I am sure the English team can come back.

There are two players that will make the difference if they of course can keep fit. Andrew Flintoff is not only a class player of all round ability but is also a proud Englishman, who will be more determined than most to retain these ashes.

Kevin Pieterson is in my opinion the best batsman in the world at the moment. Fair enough he dropped a few catches in the last ashes series but his batting was like nothing I have ever seen before. He is pure class and should be encouraged to play in his own natural way.

There are a number of other players I could mention but these two are extra special and will hopefully help England to retain the ashes in Australia.

The Australians will be very eager to seek revenge. They were superb in defeat and only just lost the series in England. They will without doubt fear and respect the above two players, and if they do not command control early on in this series, will be under more and more pressure. They are as a team the class act. The English however have possibly the best two players in the world who love to perform on the highest stage. This is why I believe England will retain the ashes in Australia.

Can England Win The Fifa World Cup?

Posted on Sabtu, 24 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

The football world cup is creeping ever closer and the question that many of my friends are asking is whether our team England can win the tournament. In this article I give my opinion on this matter, I hope you enjoy the read.

I think that this year England have one of the best teams they have had since probably the early nineteen-nineties. In saying that however there are a number of other very strong teams which have the potential of ruining our and the teams dreams. I will write about these teams later in the article.

I think Steven Gerrard has been one of the most consistent players in the premiership over the last couple of seasons and he will be entering into this tournament in prime form. After lifting the champions league with Liverpool last season he will be hungry for more success. He truly is a world class player.

David Beckham has had mixed fortunes at Real Madrid. He has shown some good form at a time when the club have failed to win any silverware. Despite what some people may think, David will be one of the proudest members of the team if they prove successful. His performance against Greece a few years ago was one of the best I have ever seen.

Sven Goran Erickson has many critics but will be desperate for his own personal c.v to win the tournament. He may seem to have a lack of passion but would love to sign off his English career with what would be a huge success.

The biggest problem for England could be the fitness of Wayne Rooney. Will he or won't he play a role? If he does play a role, will it be at full fitness? If England had a fit Wayne Rooney I believe that they would have a great chance of lifting the trophy. The injury he picked up recently however, may in my opinion put pay to the teams hope of being able to win the tournament. I think they will do well but will just not have quite enough invention without Rooney to win it. I hope I am wrong of course.

Other teams to look out for include Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Portugal and France. I think as I am sure many other people do that Brazil will win the tournament. They have the most world class players out of any team and have plenty of experience of winning football matches.

If England do not win the world cup this year, I think it will be a big opportunity missed. I do not like their manager and feel that the team has not really progressed whilst he has been in charge.

Its time for all English supporters to get behind the team and to back them all the way. Forget causing trouble and lets have what could be one of the best summers for years. Come on England!

Can Andy Roddick Win Another Slam?

Posted on Jumat, 23 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

For over 20 years now many Coaches and National Tennis Federations around the world, decided to develop players the easy way, with one-mode robot like baseline tennis. Fortunately 2 players survived this onslaught and have kept the interest alive in the serve and volley all court game, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer with Andy Roddick in a grey zone between these two great players.

Due to that one dimensional teaching of tennis by coaches and federations,, today everyone that faces Roger has the jitters. They have no answers or solutions for the challenges Roger presents. This has awakened every expert in the world to talk wonders about the "all court game"! The very same game that 20/30 years ago they themselves almost killed with new rules, heavier balls, bigger balls, slower balls etc...and by following certain "tennis gurus" with poor coaching/development examples or tennis knowledge. Remember that everyone turned their backs on the teachings of a great Master of the all court training the late Harry Hopman "The Fox".

Now back to Andy Roddick; all these technical Coaching trials at bettering his backhand or his volleys or his returns are purely making him lose confidence.... now everyone is talking about Andy Roddick developing a more all court game! Amen! Pete Sampras was saying that with his game style to all coaches for 15 years!

With Andy Roddick it would be foolish to tinker with the core of his game at this point of his career. Those things (weak parts of his game) will better themselves as he grows as a professional, practices and gets smarter, eg. experience and more self-confidence. Nevertheless the weaker parts of his game will always be "weaknesses".

If you all remember Stefen Edberg had a "poor forehand" and a not so good forehand volley! The same was for Jimmy Connors with his "poor mid-court low forehand" and "weak serve", or with Guillermo Villas "no serve" and weak volleys, or Michael Chang trying to get a "Bigger service" all his career and last, Ivan Lendl trying to stop being a "chicken" or to better his volleys to win Wimbledon (I guess Lendl should have let Tony Roche volley for him at Wimbledon when needed!...not to mention the mental debacle in 1989 at Rolland Garros). Yet, these players turned out to be great champions even though those weaknesses followed and pestered them throughout their careers.

Then Sergio what's the secret? There is a simple secret:
Top class players learn to compensate or hide their weaknesses the best they can sometimes even with ruses! For example, you problably may not remember an Italian player called Corrado Barazzutti, but the his ploy was to look like a loser to you, act like a loser, look miserable, despondent, get down on himself. He walked with his head slightly down almost inside his stooped shoulders, all in all he was the antithesis of Dr. James E. Loehr (famous sports psychologist), stay positive, I love the battle, pumping fists, agressive, mighty fighter full of adreneline type. But, boy you miss a bit and Corrado "Mama mia" Barrazutti took you to the cleaners and you were on the next airplane home or to the next tournament. Corrado was a great competitor and athlete. He made it to the respectable career ATP high ranking of 7 in the World with many brilliant wins!

Great players learn to play on their strengths and base their games on their strengths and they win the most by NOT deviating from what they do best, whatever that is. That is the secret! Remember Boris "BOOM BOOM!" Becker? Now imagine if Ion Tiriac or Bobby Brett had told Boris, "Boris, you have a great 1st serve but, you need to get a much higher percentage of first serves in".... you get the idea, we would never had gotten to know "BOOM BOOM" Becker and he probably would never had won Wimbledon either!
Now to our young friend Andy Roddick, coaching and over coaching has taken away from Andy Rodick what were his greatest tools and what I call his core strengths or weapons:

-The punishing aces (he hits a lot less aces now then 4 or 5 years ago!).

- The risk-taking forcing second service (when he first came onto the scene his second serve was a weapon, today it is not!). Remember how Pete Sampras used is second serve as a weapon!

- The punishing shots inside the court. Today Andy is playing 80% of his aggressive or defensive shots 12 to 15 feet behind the baseline! He basicly runs unecessary miles that take away much needed energy for further winning matches and for a long tennis season.

What does Roddick need to do? Forget about the Coaching and the experts! Go with his instincts, his power game, his natural strengths:

- Use his biggest weapons at all time, be it big first services, big second serves or serve and volley occasionally.

- Stop playing 15 feet behind the baseline! Play 3 to 6 feet from the baseline and get inside the court at every opportunity he gets and hit the big forehand WINNERS! Never give up an inch!

- Go to the net and mix the approach shots with short fades or disguised drop-shots and mix solid volleying with drop-angled-volleys.

- When attacking go 85% of the times up the line use very few cross court approaches.

- Never worry about the volley, if he gets inside the court, he will get easy enough put away volleys.

- Return closer to the baseline and darn it, he must get inside the court on those second serves pound them or go to the net and put some kind of pressure on the other guys serves (chip & charge you name it!).

- From point one get ahold of his opponents and rattle them with his sheer physical power and never let go. Like Jimmy Connors use to do with his strokes.

- Take control of the center of the tennis court and of the match; mentally, physically and with his shots.

Finally, in the grand slams he has to be able to do this at all times 3 sets in a row or 5 intercalated if he is forced to. He needs to decrease the amount of rounds with long five set matches to 3 sets. He also has to increase the level of his self-belief, concentration and general stamina!

Easier said then done, but I believe that the young man can do it!

Camping Tips

Posted on Kamis, 22 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Camping is essentially for those of us who love the outdoors and can do without all of the comforts of home for a short while. However, just loving the outdoors is not enough to guarantee that the experience will be a fun one. The essentials of having fun in the great outdoors are preparation and an open mind. Preparation is easy, if you follow some simple rules.

When you are getting ready to plan a trip, you must select a convenient time that will give you flexibility of one to two days. This will make the trip more about you, and less about your timetable. You may run into weather problems or you may just want to camp for an extra day. Next, choose a location and make it specific. Don’t just choose a county where you saw a campground. Call the campground or the park office and get reservations or information about the time you have allotted. Many parks are happy give you information and tips about what to expect. The most complicated step in preparation is making a list of what to bring. Making a list is essential and your list will change dramatically the more you trips you take.

The first thing you need to put on your list of things to take is the things that will get you there. If you are hiking to a campsite, list the number of backpacks. If you are simply driving to a site, list the number of cars. Then you must plan your shelter and sleeping situation.

Remember, tents are a luxury and heavy to carry. Hikers usually bring a plastic tarp that can shelter up to four people. With a tarp, you can tie it between trees for cover from the elements. Many time you won’t even need that but you can always lay the tarp on the ground to designate a clean sleeping area. After this has been set, you will go over what food you will need. We stress need here. Stray from fresh produce and meets because they spoil easy and their scent attracts animals and insects. Stick to dried food and canned items. Canned items will add weight, but they are more calorie rich and very easy to cook in multiple situations. Most of your food should be snacks, so that you don’t have to cook very much. Trail mix and yogurt covered raisins will fill you up more than you think, and they are a cheap alternative to buying food from camping stores that hike up the price on dried meals.

The last things you will put on your list are what will make you comfortable. Minimal clothing is best. One of each type of outfit is best. One pair of shorts, pants, sweatshirt, tee, and a couple pairs of undergarments including socks is enough. One poncho will take up minimal space. Small LED flash lights will get you around at night if you stray from the fire. Then make sure you have some things to keep you busy. Books, playing cards and a nerf football are all light and can be very entertaining for hours on end. As long as you don’t start dragging along things that aren’t meant for the outdoors, you should be fine. Remember that everything will be at home when you get back. Most importantly make a not of the things you didn’t use and the things you wished you brought. That will make each trip you take more enjoyable and different than the last.

Camping – Requirements And Safety Measures

Posted on Rabu, 21 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

An outdoor recreational activity, camping involves people spending the night in tents at a campsite. They do it in an attempt to temporarily avoid the din and bustle of city life, and to get close to nature. If you are looking to spend a comfortable time in camping, you can opt for the recreational vehicles.

The recreational vehicles are luxurious and have all types of modern facilities like air conditioning, bathrooms, kitchens, showers, satellite TV and internet connection. Some feel that the real experience of outdoor camping comes from tent camping. Various touring bicycles, boats, and bush planes are used. For camping, you need to carry with you some basic camping equipment. Tent, sleeping bag, portable stove, flashlight, axe for cutting wood, and a rope.

A tent consists of sheets of fabric that are attached to different poles to produce a shelter. Tents can be of different types like the flysheet, gazebo, fishermen’s tent, or a beach tent. Sleeping bags are warm and well insulated. They provide protection from wind, perspiration and exposure to view. A portable stove is a lightweight stove used for camping. They are usually single burner stoves using solid or liquid fuel for ignition. A flashlight is useful in the dark to illuminate the surrounding.

It is important to plan your camping well in advance. Always expect the unexpected. Consider the worst possible cases that you may have to face and think of ways how you can deal with the problem. Send copies of your route to your family members. Register yourself before going out for a hike and similarly sign in after coming back. Use a two-way radio to communicate with your partner.

Always be prepared to face weather change while you are camping. Make sure that you are carrying the necessary camping gears like waterproof backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, and other such things. Carry a waterproof jacket and pants with you. Carry layer clothes so that you can remove or add a layer according to the weather condition. Carry along with you a topographical map of the area so that you don’t easily get lost while camping. A whistle may come handy.

Beware of insect bites and stings. Always use a DEET-based insect repellent and check for bites behind your ears, under the arm, and in the groin area. Camping provides the best way of engaging in adventures and getting close to Nature.

Caddie Tips For The Beginner

Posted on Selasa, 20 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Caddying for a golfer is not a lot of work, and could be quite enjoyable, especially if you hook up with a good golfer. Like the old saying goes. Watch and learn. There are 8 main job tasks that a caddie must do. We will try and take a look at them briefly.

Carrying golf clubs

This task could very well be the toughest of the eight, especially if the golf bag is heavy. Knowledge is not a factor hears, but carrying them properly is. Try resting the golf bag on the small of your back, may be the most comfortable position. Adjust the strap of the bag to accomplish this position. When you carry a golfer’s clubs, you should hold the irons steady with your hand. Try to prevent them from clanging together by placing your wrist at the edge top of the bag and reaching over them with the palm of your hand.

Placing the golf bag down around greens, fairways, and tee boxes, should be done gently. By doing this routinely, will prevent noise of the clubs around golf greens, tee boxes, and other players. Do not drop clubs.

Washing players golf clubs

This is a fairly simple task, but you have to stay on top of it. Keep a wet towel with you at all times. You may want to keep half of it dry, if you want to carry it with you. Make sure the golfer’s clubs are clean and dry at all times. Do not hand your golfer a dirty club. Keep a tee in your pocket to clean the grooves of the clubface and wipe clean with the towel. Make sure golf clubs are dry and clean before every hole. When the golfer is finished with the club. Clean them right away and place in golf bag gently. If you do not put them back in the bag right away, you may forget them on the ground, and find out later the golfer may need that particular club. When you happen to remember leaving one behind. Mention it to your golfer immediately. He or She will give you instructions on what to do.

Washing players golf ball

Ask the golfer well in advance, if he or she would like their golf ball cleaned. Do not wait until the last minute before their shot. Have other golf balls clean and ready, just in case they decide to change golf balls. Do not pick up your golfer’s ball, when on the tee box, fairway, bunker, rough, and green to clean it. The ball must be cleaned before the tee shot, and after the ball is marked on the green. The golfer will know the playing rules. Let them give it to you to clean.

Replace golfer’s divot

Typically you will find divots on fairway shots. That is not always the case. Sometimes they will have to be replaced on tee boxes. Wait for all golfers to finish their shot, if they are behind you. When everyone starts to march out to his or her next shot. Simply run out and pick up the turf and place back in divot hole, and pack down with foot. Replace a couple of divots, if you have time.

Repair ball marks on green

The golfer should do this task. The golfer may ask you to repair the ball mark, if he or she is lining up their putt. Simply prop up the grass around the hole with a tee and pack down with a flat surface, such as a putter or sole of foot.

Tending the flagstick

Wait for the golfer to ask you to either pull the pin, or tend it. Be nearby to keep play up to speed. Stay off of all golfers’ lines to the hole, and keep the flag from waving in the wind if holding the flagstick for the golfer. Also keep your shadow away from golfers's line. Make sure the flagstick is pulled when the ball is rolling towards the hole. The golfer may occur a penalty stroke, if they hit the pin when putting. The golfer has the option to leave the flagstick in when off the green. Some golfers like it out. Wait for instructions when another player is off the green. Try to stand still when a golfer is putting. After all golfers are finished putting, replace the flagstick and check for golf clubs left behind.

Club selection advice

This particular task is for the experienced caddie, and or caddie that has been with the same golfer for a while. Try to memorize the distance of your golfer’s shots and what club he or she used. They may ask you for advice on what club to use on any given hole. You may surprise them with your choice of clubs. Let’s hope it’s a good surprise. If your not sure, do not guess. Just remember. It’s only advice. When your not sure of the distance and club selection, encourage them on making the right decision.

Keep sight of golfer’s ball

When your golfer and other golfers are taking a golf shot, always watch where the ball lands. Always keep a marker, like a bush or particular size tree when it lands. This particular task is very important. Your responsibility is for the golfer you are caddying for. Try to look out for other players as well. This could be the single most important task. No golfer wants to lose a golf ball. When you can always find the golf ball, the golfer will almost always want you to caddie for them again.

Buying Your First Kayak

Posted on Senin, 19 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

A couple of decades ago there were two to three models of Kayaks available. Don't be surprised if today you go in the market to find 50 different ultra specialized Kayaks.

The obvious first question is what type of kayaking will you do? Basically there is river, lake, and sea kayaking. River kayaks are very short and tough boats meant for maneuverability and the abuse of whitewater rapids. Sea kayaks are sleek and light and are designed for cruising. Then there are general kayaks that can be used on sea lakes.

There are three basic types of kayaks as far as structure and materials are concerned.

Rigid kayaks are made of plastic, wood or carbon fiber. These are usually the most affordable and are they are the most popular too. Plastic boats are tough and reliable but once damaged can be very difficult to repair. Fiberglass boats are more expensive than plastic but damage is easily repaired, they are also quite light.

For kayak enthusiasts who appreciate aesthetics and beauty, you might want to look at some wooden boats; they are carefully crafted and very beautiful kayaks. There are kits available for folks who are prepared to build their own.

A folding kayak is usually made of wood or aluminum. Their prices are usually high, but they tend to last longer, and are also quite easy to store.

Inflatable boats provide good portability and storage space. They are generally the least expensive kayaks you can buy. Kayak enthusiasts for whom storage and transportation is a major issue will find a good option in these boats.

Another choice to ponder is whether to choose a single-passenger or double-passenger kayak. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. For a fun family adventure, the double kayak is perfect. It is fast and stable but lacks the maneuverability of a single Kayak.

After deciding on the style of kayak you want to purchase, price becomes a big factor in determining exactly which model to buy. A basic entry-level plastic kayak can be found for as low as $250. Fiberglass boats can cost from anywhere around $900 to $2500. Other plastic models can run as high as $1700. If you want to go for the more exotic kayaks they would cost you a little more. Inflatable boats start at about $125 and go up to about $2000. Folding boats have a huge Price variation, in them and they can cost anywhere between $1500 to $5000.

Buying Toys?

Posted on Minggu, 18 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Looking for simple, inexpensive toys for your child that require no batteries, assembly, and keep his or her attention for hours? Here are some ideas for simple things around the house that will entertain your children while you accomplish all the things on your to-do list.

1) Play-doh. This is easy to make and lasts for a long time if you keep it in an airtight container. Kids love things that squish and squash, so put down some wax paper and let their imaginations take over! To make play-doh, take two cups of wheat flour, two cups of water, two tablespoons of oil, one-third cup salt, and one-fourth cup cream of tarter and mix them in a saucepan over low-medium heat. Stir until all excess moisture has evaporated and play-doh consistency has been reached. Let cool and store in plastic containers or bags. For a little extra fun, when you mix all the ingredients in the saucepan, add some food coloring for colored play-doh!

2) Boxes. A cardboard box can be colored on, painted, and cut, and can be easily moved or disposed. An empty box can turn into a ship sailing the high seas, a cabin in the woods, or a castle on a hill. Many grocery stores have large, empty boxes that they are willing to give to anyone asking.

3) Pots and pans. When I was little, my mom would pull out her pots, pans, and metal bowls, fill some of them with water, and let my brother and I play “cooking.” We’d take cups, spoons, measuring cups—anything that could hold water—and transfer water from one pot to the other. We spent hours concocting various brews and soups, and usually ended up soaking ourselves. Because it was just water though, there were no stains to worry about and the mess was relatively easy to mop up.

4) A cheap toy. Never underestimate the power of one small toy. Another story from my childhood: my brother and I had two small action figures that we’d gotten from a kids’ meal. Those two men went everywhere with us! Outside in the dirt, in our little pool, on car rides, and so many other places. They “helped” us wash dishes, do homework, play in the yard, and kept us entertained for many afternoons. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my brother and I playing with those action figures.

5) Old clothes. Children take great delight in playing “adults.” Oversized clothes become disguises for miniature CIA agents or fancy outfits for little starlets. Ties, ribbons, shoes, dresses, sunglasses, and dress shirts are especially fun for kids.

Simple things, when seen through the eyes of a child, can become the most fun toy in the world. All you need are a few of these easily-accessible items and a health dose of imagination, and your children will be playing happily for hours!

Buying theater tickets with a broker will be the easiest way to go

Buying theater tickets with a broker will be the easiest way to go

For many people, a trip to a good theater performance cannot be matched. The theater brings many shows to life and it interacts with the audience in a way that the television cannot. Theater is 3-dimensional, bright and personal. However, most theaters only seat a certain amount of people and when compared to a large sports arena, there really aren’t very many tickets to go around. This is where a good ticket broker comes in handy. Buying theater tickets with a broker is typically the easiest and most effective way to get good theater seats. If you have ever wondered how all the good seats are gone by the time you get to the ticket counter then you can be rest assured that your broker will have a few front row tickets lying around somewhere.

Why do many theaters sell out so quickly? Most theaters are lucky if they have more than a few hundred seats available. The ‘good seats’ are those in the first few rows in front of the stage or the first few rows of the balcony (if the theater has a balcony). If you want to get one of these seats you will soon find they are about as hard to get a hold of as pieces of solid gold. The tickets sell out because most theater enthusiasts figure if they are going to spend the money to go to the theater, they will at least get good enough seats that make them feel like they are part of the performance.

Buying theater tickets with a broker will ensure you never seat in the back, without a clear view of the stage. Ticket brokers usually hold onto theater tickets until almost the last minutes. Why? They want to ensure their clients, even the last minute lookers, good seats. This way the broker can charge a little more for the risk of holding onto the tickets and the theater goers can wait up until the last moment to decide whether they want to go or not…and they will still get quality seats.

Where can you find a ticket broker to help assist you in finding good theater tickets? The internet is a great place to look and your current ticket broker (if you have one) is an even better place. The internet allows ticket broker to buy and sell theater tickets nationwide to performances in every state. Your current broker probably has the connections to score you a pair of tickets (or more!) to any performance you are interested in as well.

Buying theater tickets with a broker is a risk free way to get front row seats at your favorite theater performance tomorrow night or next year. Check with your broker for current prices and events.

Buying sports tickets from a broker can help you get good tickets quickly

Posted on Jumat, 16 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Sports fans are always looking for the best alternatives to buying tickets to sporting events. Stadiums are known for being a nuisance, especially when trying to get multiple tickets in the same vicinity. Ticket brokers, on the other hand, are known for being there for their clients to help them get tickets to their favorite sporting events, no matter what the competition is. Buying sports tickets from a broker can help you get good tickets quickly and even more than that, there is no hassle or trouble.

Do you want to watch some basketball? Maybe your favorite college or professional basketball team just got in town but you’re short on tickets. Maybe the game is sold out. If so, a ticket broker is probably your best bet to getting tickets at all. When games are sold out, ticket brokers are typically the ones to go to.

What about football? Do you want to head off to the 50 yard line to watch some close up action? Ticket brokers have the best football tickets from anywhere in the stadium and whether you want to see the sweat pouring off the quarterback’s jersey or the last second catch by the wide out in the End Zone, a ticket broker can provide you with the seat.

Are you interested in seeing baseball from a centerfield seat? If so, a ticket broker will be able to properly seat you for the best chance of catching a homerun. Not only do ticket brokers sell tickets to sporting events, most of them have an intimate knowledge of the sports and more importantly, the actual stadiums where the competitions take place. They can get you the best seats, period.

Team sports are not the only sports that ticket brokers can provide you seats for. Many ticket brokers branch out and can provide you with tickets to PGA tournaments, NASCAR races and even boxing. If you need a sports ticket, a ticket broker can probably fill your need.

Buying sports tickets with a broker is smart because you will build a relationship with a particular person or business that can provide you with quality service for years to come, no matter where you live. Because many brokers work on the internet nowadays, most of them provide clients with multiple tickets from every sporting event around the country. No longer are they regulated to one particular region of the U.S. You can make your broker your one stop for all your year’s ticket needs. Want to watch the Bears take on the Dolphins in Miami? No problem. Want to see the Angels and the Red Sox square off in Boston? No biggie.

By building a relationship like this, you will never have to go to the stadium to pick up tickets, ever. Ticket brokers are the best place to go or sporting tickets to any of a number of events nation wide.

Buying Hard-to-Find Concert, Sport, Theater, Season and Event Tickets

Posted on Rabu, 14 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

If you enjoy attending big events in sports, music, theater, or other major events, you probably realize how difficult securing your tickets can be, especially at the last minute. Popular events will often be "sold out" before everyone who wants to attend can grab their tickets. Then, those who don't get a ticket must scramble at the last minute to try and find tickets through other sources.

If you find yourself in a bind like this, using online resources can sometimes help you secure last minute or sold-out concert, sport, theater, season and event tickets. But there are a few things to be aware of when buying sold-out or hard-to-find tickets. Use the pointers below to save time and money while protecting yourself from ticket scams.

Check for Online Security when Ordering

You can take a look around a ticket website and its ordering section to be sure the ordering process is secure. The order page itself should be a secure page if you are to enter your credit card information directly into a form. The page is usually secure if the Web address begins with "https://". The "s" means it is secure. If the ticket company is using a third party ordering service, be sure it's a company that is well known and trustworthy.

Contact Information

Check to be sure you can contact the ticket company by phone when you need them. If the website does not offer a good "contact us" system, beware of them. You could get stuck with the bill and no tickets. If you order football tickets or baseball tickets, for instance, and the game is rained out or cancelled for some reason, you should be able to contact the ticket company to find out what your next step should be.

Check for Reputation

You can contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or visit the BBB Online to check out a company if you're not sure if you can trust them. Here you can find out if there have been any recent complaints about the company, how long the company has been in business, and so forth.

Beware of Hidden Fees

Before placing an order for concert tickets, football tickets, theater tickets such as "Wicked" tickets, or any other event tickets, make sure there are no hidden charges. The hidden charges often come camouflaged as "service charges" or something similar. Shipping charges are fine as long as they are reasonable. The average rush shipment could cost you an amount from $15 to $25 in the U.S. and up to $35 internationally.

Look for the "Buyer Guarantee"

When you buy tickets, you should have the assurance that if for some reason, the event is cancelled or the ticket purchase falls through, you can have your money back. The ticket company should state up front what their policy is and if they offer a customer guarantee when things go wrong. If they don't state this anywhere, seek out a ticket company that does cater to the customer's needs.

If you really want to attend an event, it's wise to buy tickets early. There's never a guarantee that you will be able to buy tickets at the last minute. But when and if the time comes that you need to buy tickets at the last minute, use the guide above to keep your personal information and money safe. Whether you are buying concert, sport, theater, season or event tickets, you'll have peace of mind knowing you can get last minute or sold-out tickets when you need them.

Buying football tickets with a broker is easy and affordable

Posted on Senin, 12 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Imagine getting front row tickets to any football game that you are interested in watching in person. Imagine not just avoiding the long lines and ticket counters at the stadium but avoiding the expensive season passes just so that you can see your favorite football team play whenever you want. Imagine being able to pick up the phone (or just click over to a website) and place an order for one, two or even a group of football tickets…at a very affordable rate. Buying football tickets with a broker is both affordable and convenient and before you go out to the stadium to purchase tickets, you may want to give a ticket broker a chance.

What football games can you watch? Unlike buying tickets from an individual football stadium or team, when you go to a national ticket broker you will be able to get tickets to nearly any professional or college football game in the country. Want to watch your Patriots take on the Colts? Give your ticket broker a call and you will be able to get front row tickets. It is that easy.

Buying football tickets with a broker is easy because, well, you don’t really have to do anything. You can get tickets to nearly any sold out football game without a blink of an eye. If you heard that the local football game is sold out, don’t fret; chances are your ticket broker has a few tickets mingling around.

Buying football tickets with a broker is affordable. Sure, the prices may be priced a little bit over the retail value that they are set at in the stadium but they usually aren’t too much higher. Plus, when football games sell out, the tickets value price jumps a little higher. When you factor in the convenience level of using a ticket broker you can just count the extra cost as a service charge. Football tickets aren’t always sold at a higher rate, however because you can sometimes get lower then retail prices through a broker. If a game doesn’t quite sell out and the broker has a few tickets left over, they may want to get rid of them at a lower price…you will just have to ask!

Many people buy football tickets with a broker because it just plain works. Ticket brokers have the right tickets to the right games and in the right locations. The front row tickets, right on the 50- yard line are the ones that typically sell out immediately at the ticket box office but when you go to your broker the day before kick- off, chances are you will still be able to score a pair of tickets.

The next time you think about watching your home team play or are traveling and think about catching a football game on the fly, call your ticket broker to see just what options you have available to you. You just may be surprised.

Buying concert tickets with a broker will bring you to the music

Posted on Minggu, 11 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Concerts are fun to go to and if you are a music fan of any genre, you may be wondering what the best way is to get quality tickets at an affordable rate. Buying concert tickets with a broker will bring you straight to the heart of music and when you can enjoy your favorite artists in concert, you will love your broker for it. Buying concert tickets with a broker is easier then you think, quicker then you think and probably, a bit cheaper then you would first expect. Let’s look at a few of the myths people have about buying concert tickets with a broker:

Myth number one: Buying concert tickets with a broker is tough. This myth stops a lot of people from buying tickets from a broker because they figure it is more complicated than it actually is. All it really consists of is finding your favorite concert or musician (which you probably know!) and then picking up the phone or clicking purchase on the broker’s website. A broker’s website works much in the same way a ticket office does where you can pay with your credit or debit card on a secure site and have your tickets mailed to you next day air. It is easier then you think.

Myth number two: Buying concert tickets with a broker takes a long time. This is not true and in fact, it often works much in the opposite effect. Buying concert tickets through a broker is often quicker then buying them through a ticket office. Why? Brokers only have a certain amount of tickets to concerts but they want to make sure they sell them because any unsold tickets mean no profit. A lot of time you can even pre pay a broker for certain tickets at a concert you know will be sold out and you just don’t feel like waiting in line. While you may pay a slightly higher price for these tickets, you will still get them hassle free and very quickly.

Myth number three: Buying concert tickets with a broker is expensive. Many people think that if they are going to buy a concert ticket with a broker then they are going to spend a bucket load of money, not true. While you may pay a little more then retail value, you are also getting incredibly good seats (even to sold out concerts), with the least amount of hassle and you can even get them at the very last minute. The price can sometimes be cheaper too, something you don’t often hear about when discussing ticket brokers. When a concert comes up and all the broker’s tickets are not sold yet, they may decide to sell under value tickets just to get rid of them. Keep your eyes open for good last minute deals.

Buying concert tickets with a broker is a smart way to shop and if you dispel the three myths listed above, it doesn’t look so bad, huh?

If the website you order from is based in the state that you are ordering from, you will have to pay sales tax on your order. On the other hand, if the site is located in another state than your own, you will not be subject to sales tax.

Shipping is the one cost you will incur when ordering online. Some websites choose to list their prices including a flat fee ground shipping rate. Beware, that some websites, may say “free shipping”, when in fact they add on a service or packaging fee that can be up to $5.00 or more. Other websites will list the bowling ball at a designated price, then add the shipping charged based on the zip code you are shipping to. Depending on where you are shipping to and from, it is best to compare prices across several sites in order to get the best deal.

Top weights and pin locations are one area that many bowlers might have specific request when purchasing a bowling ball. Some of the major websites will give you the option of selecting a certain range of top weight and pin location. Most of the time they are able to fulfill your request. Your local pro shop can easily get you the desired top weight and pin location for your new bowling ball. In fact, many may have it on hand and ready to drill the day you show up to their business. This is one significant advantage of purchasing from a local bowling ball pro shop. Another is the fact the pro shop owner can know your game or style and be able to provide you with the necessary information to make the best decision regarding your next bowling ball purchase.

With the new bowling ball, you will need to have it drilled. There are many online pro shops that do offer a ball drilling service. Most of the time there is a form on the website to enter your measurements into. What if you don’t know your measurements? Or even the layout you need on the bowling ball? This is where the local bowling ball pro shop exceeds in service compared to a website.

With buying a bowling ball online, the service with the website is almost non-existent. Whereas a local bowling ball pro shop will be readily available if you need new finger inserts, more bevel on the thumb, or even some bowling ball polish.

These are just a few of the comparisons between buying a bowling ball online and a local brick and mortar pro shop. Make sure to shop around, measure the pros and cons of each, and you will be on your way to making an informative bowling ball purchase.

Buying basketball tickets with a broker makes for a smart fan

Posted on Kamis, 08 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Courtside seats are almost an unknown thing to some basketball fans. The third tier is where most of the crowd resides, trying to pick out their favorite player from the figurine sized athletes on the court…or at least that is what they look like from 50 feet up. While there is nothing wrong with 300 Level tickets, you can get closer seats, even as close as courtside, if you’re interested. Buying basketball tickets with the help of a broker will make you a smarter fan because you will be getting the top tickets to any hotly contested basketball game.

Why buy basketball tickets with a broker? You can wait until the last minute. Life brings adjustments and basketball games don’t always leave room for them. If you want to buy courtside tickets at any basketball game, chances are you will have to buy them very, very early. Once you buy them, there usually is no chance for returning them if something comes up and you have to miss the game. You can forget scalping them, as this is against the law and if you give them away you will lose a considerable amount of upfront cash. The best way to buy basketball tickets is through a ticket broker because you can wait until the last minute to buy your tickets if you have any question at all about being able to attend the event.

It is also a smart idea to buy basketball tickets from a broker because you can get nearly any seat in the arena that you choose. Say you want to sit really close, not quite courtside because you want to save a little bit of money, but still very close. Ask your broker if you can get third or fourth row seats and you will save money and still get a seat selection that not even the stadium itself could offer you.

The play- offs. It is a term that makes a basketball fan gain an elevated heart rate. The NBA play- offs the WNBA play- offs and the NCAA March Madness. These three “Super Tournaments” are highly anticipated and often sell out quickly but most ticket brokers have a number of seats at any of a multitude of games. If you are unsure whether you will be able to attend a certain game or not, just wait. Ticket brokers often provide tickets at the last minute and can get you good deals.

What team is ‘your team?’ Every basketball fan has that certain team that they absolutely love but it doesn’t always mean they are from the same city they live in. For instance, you may live in Chicago but consider the Boston Celtics your favorite team. If the Celtics come to Chicago only twice per year, you may want to get courtside tickets to the games without having to purchase season passes (which most of the courtside tickets consist of). By contacting your ticket broker in advance, you won’t just be able to get a courtside ticket or two (or four or five!), but you will get a pretty affordable price tag as well.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker can be helpful year round

Posted on Rabu, 07 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Baseball is a sport that seems to take up most of the calendar and while there are plenty of games to watch, getting good tickets can be a pretty difficult thing to accomplish. Most baseball games have plenty of bleacher seats in the nosebleed section, at a decent price, but if you want to watch baseball, I mean really get into the game and see the action, the ball pitched and the sweat beading off the catcher’s equipment, you will probably want better seats. The best place to find the best seats is with a ticket broker. Buying baseball tickets with a broker can be helpful year round because you can get behind the home plate netting, on the first or third base lines or right out in center field, ready to catch the next home run.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker is done by baseball fans across the country because getting good tickets is not always easy. If you have ever sat in Section 300 of the baseball stadium and looked envious of those sitting front row at Wrigley Field, you may be interested in knowing that a good portion of those people bought their tickets through a broker, not the stadium. Most stadiums sell out of the ‘good seats’ fairly early in the season and unless you have a season pass, your chances of scoring one of these tickets is slim. That is what a good ticket broker is there for. If you want to sit on the first base line, just ask your broker and they will hook you up with great seats on any line you want.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker is also easier now with the internet. In the past you had to call your ticket broker over the phone and have him manually tell you what tickets are available and at what cost for each. Now, with the advent of the internet, it is as easy as just clicking over to your broker’s site and hitting “Purchase.” You can search by team, city or stadium and no matter what seat selection you’re looking for; you probably won’t be let down.

What about play- off time? Play- off time is the prime time for baseball fans and especially when the World Series rolls around. Most of the time you have to purchase play- off or World Series tickets far in advance…but what if your favorite team made a surprise run as a wildcard and made it deep in the play- offs? If you tried purchasing tickets at the stadium they would probably laugh. If you try to purchase tickets with your ticket broker, he will just ask how close you would like to sit.

Buying baseball tickets with a broker is the smartest way to get through a full season as a fan because no matter what team you follow or where you like to sit, you will be able to see the game from your favorite viewpoint, not just what was left over.

Bungee Trampolines: Discover New Heights

Posted on Senin, 05 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Trampoline jumping has literally been taken to new heights with the launch of a gravity-defying, adrenaline-pumping sport known as bungee trampoline, introduced by the world of extreme sports. In bungee trampoline, the jumper has an adjustable harness attached to the waist, connected to bungee ropes on both sides. This allows various types of somersaults and other airborne aerobics as the jumper is catapulted up to 12 to 14 meters in the air.

Bungee trampolines can be set up on almost any high footfall outdoor or indoor locations such as amusement parks, beaches, swimming pools, summer camps, schools, festivals, acrobatic training centers, water parks, gymnasiums, etc.

Most Bungee Trampolines are built from high quality materials such as aluminum and stainless steel and should fulfill certain safety standards and regulations. Anyone who weighs between 45 to 200 pounds can comfortably participate in a bungee trampoline jumping. Experience is not needed except for extreme stunts and aerobics, which should never be attempted without the supervision of a professional. Another advantage with bungee trampoline jumping is that even people with certain physical disabilities can take part because the harness attached to the waist makes it much safer than conventional trampolines.

A single jumping unit may have more than one trampoline which allows multiple jumpers to use the bungee trampoline at the same time. However, there are also bungee trampolines designed for only one person at a time. Most of the bungee trampolines used today come with a client control apparatus, using a counter and a timer which can be easily operated by a single person. Recommended power supply for bungee trampolines is 110 or 230 volts and 10 amperes electrical outlet.

There are several models, types, and designs of bungee trampolines. Some of them have been modified to make the jumps more exciting and thrilling. For example, Forest Maxi Bungy Trampoline, captioned “Maxi bungee trampoline fly in the trees” (maxi-trampoline.com) features a harness and elastic system which is connected to natural trees from 5 meters to 20 meters high construction. Participants (5 years and older, adults below 200 lbs.) can jump up to 20 meters and land on their feet in the middle of the trampoline. 230 volts or 110 volts is the average supply of power used by this bungee trampoline.

An example of a four person bungee trampoline:

Camp Cayuga (campcayuga.com), a private coed residential summer camp in Honesdale, Pennsylvania has introduced what it called the Big “Trampoline Thing", as a part of its extreme jumping sports program. This is the basic configuration of the bungee trampoline:

A large rig combines a trampoline system with a bungee cord system. The rig features 4 separate trampolines, so 4 people can be accommodated at one time. The patented Bungee Cord System includes a hydraulic lift that automatically readjusts the height settings on the rig as participants jump higher. With this safety feature, the bungee cord cannot be over-stretched while jumping, and catapult the jumper up to 24 feet in the air.

Bungee Trampoline jumping, like the regular bungee jumping, should be approached with caution because it can result in injuries like sprains, fractures, scrapes, bruises and cuts, or serious injuries to the head and neck which can cause paralysis, or even death. Children should always be supervised by adults, and inexperienced adult jumpers should seek the help of instructors or professionals.

Bullfight Blues

Posted on Minggu, 04 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Spain's notorious Bullfight is one of the most famous customs upheld by the Spanish. It draws attention worldwide from people who just love the sport, and also from many others who are agains't this barbaric onslaught.

I hasten to add that this kind of entertainment is not for me, but for many thousands that travel to watch a Bullfight they get to mingle with the dedicated locals who have a tradition to uphold. This is a sure sign that they do not feel the way I do.

Stuffed like sardines into a jam packed arena, avid enthusiasts who in support of this sport continue to excite each other with roars of encouragement for the Bullfight to commence. Cheers of Ole is how excited spectators greet this mighty powerful bull as he makes his grand entance and presence known to all.
Confused and not sure as to why he was the center of attention, the bull decides to take advantage of his new famed popularity by giving a priceless perfomance to the maddening crowd. He would do this by digging his hoof into the ground beneath him sending dust clouds swirling into the air while at the same time from his steaming nostrils an encore of snorts.

Looking more like a riot at football match the cramped stadium and all the commotion makes the beast very nervous.
Why he was summoned here today he did not know - but he was soon to find out.

What on earth is the Bull thinking?
Sheer jubilation among the crowds as the adrenalin began to pump for all who had gathered to this event, as it was only minutes away before the Bullfight.

Picadores armed with lances announce there presence into the arena on horseback to a stadium of screaming fans. All mounts blind folded.
These men (Picadores) Their job is to tantalise and maim the bull before slaughter. This is done by following orders that on departure from the ring that they leave all weapons behind, and they do just that.

Pierced in-between the shoulder blades of a very frightened Bull.

What on earth is that Bull thinking now?

This is just the beginning of the end. Stunned dazed and hurting, the bull now with so many body piercings still manages a few breathless snorts. The reflection of his image is like that of a voodoo doll. Not a pretty sight.

The efforts of the Picadores were never enough at a bullfight, you have the Banderilleros whose mission is to distract the bull, and they would do this by running in circles in and around the animal thus making him tired and dizzy.
How do you distract a dying bull with so much blood loss? not a hard job, the bull's options for escape are zilch.
Stabbed and drained of his almighy strength and unable to raise his head due his injuries. Makes the bull an easy target for any Matador.

In all his finery the murderer oops sorry Matador enters the arena. Black beret, jewelled bolero red cape and breeches buttoned at the knees..This sight alone was enough to scare any bull.
Spurred on by the cheering crowds to cast the fatal blow, the Matador provokes his dying opponent to charge. All attempts made by this sad oh so sad disoriented bull to retaliate to the words TORO were not that of a fully charged up angry irate bull. Amenesty is given to the bull should the Matador miss his target. A slayer is called in to put the beast out of his misery by cutting the spinal cord with a dagger. Has this bull not had enough stabbings for the day? This action can go terribly wrong leaving the bull conscious paralysed and in severe pain.

Remove the lances and spears
Replace the blood loss with a transfusion
Give the bull back his pride
Now throw the Matador back in in to the ring 100% hero of the day THE BULL

Want to know what the bull was thinking (What did I do to deserve this)

To think a couple of hours before the Bullfight this bull was chewing the cud in fields of green.

Building A Model Rocket Can Be A Great Learning Experience

Posted on Sabtu, 03 Desember 2011 | 0 komentar

Building and flying model rockets can be a great way for students of any age to learn a bit about the basic rules of physics. Although model rockets may look more like toys than like educational tools, during the process of building and launching a model rocket any enthusiast is bound to pick up quite a bit of knowledge about the forces that govern physical motion. Even if your child is anything but an honor roll student, after spending a fun weekend together constructing your own model rockets your son or daughter will be able to confidently explain important scientific concepts like weight and thrust. These topics make up the backbone of the study of aerodynamics.

When flying a model rocket, you will be able to observe Newtonian physics in action. The basic laws of motion are on display for anyone watching a model rocket in the air to see. Learning about inertia, acceleration, and friction are key parts of building a rocket that will succeed off of the ground. This fact can help spark your child’s interest in science.

Sometimes, taking learning out of the classroom can help a student gain mastery in a subject matter that they are not fully absorbing within the school setting. Often, a child whose learning style clashes with that of his or her teacher will feel a subject is too difficult for them, and this is especially true in the sciences which can be very intimidating for students. By taking physics into your own backyard, you can encourage your child to approach science in a fun way that will help them build confidence.

Your son or daughter may not even be aware that when they are measuring the dimensions of their model rocket during the planning phase before they begin to build, that they are dealing with the same scientific principles that can feel beyond their grasp in a classroom setting. By giving your child a chance to absorb this kind of information outside of the pressures of the school room, you may be sowing the seeds for an enduring interest in the subject matter. The key to letting this kind of educational experience unfold is not to pressure your child along the way.

Have reference books on hand in case questions about topics like inertia and acceleration come up, but don’t force your child to consider these issues unless they become relevant. Strive to create a playful and relaxed atmosphere that will make your son or daughter comfortable enough to indulge his or her natural curiosity about how and why the rocket works. In this way, you can ease your child into learning the fundamentals of physics.

Your basketball team will be more productive at every game when team morale is high. As a coach or team manager, one way to help build team spirit is by providing custom sports equipment bags for each player. Basketball team bags and other products with the team logo help to bind your team as one organism. Every player can have the same type of sports bag, cap, shirt, jacket, and so forth. Team logo bags help the team players to identify with one another and also help others identify the team as a whole.

Types of Sports Equipment Bags for Basketball

There are several types of team bags for use in basketball practice and games. There are large team logo bags as well as medium or small sizes to fit each player's needs. You might want each player to have various sizes of bags to accommodate for games at home or away, and for practice.

Probably the most popular type of bags for sports teams are duffle bags. These are easy to carry and have ample room for carrying shoes, a change of clothes, and even personal hygiene items. Larger bags are available for traveling or for carrying team equipment. There are also bags in various shapes and sizes for those who dare to be different. These may resemble backpacks with a bottle pouch and several other fancy pouches. They are shaped different than duffle bags, so carrying these bags might be a bit awkward.

What to Look for in a Basketball Sports Equipment Bag

When buying team player bags, be sure to go for durability and convenience. The team bags should be large enough to carry the necessary items for games and for traveling when playing out of town. Look for quality bag materials such as thick canvas or nylon. The bags should feature stitch reinforcements at stress points to minimize wear and tear. Also, look for high quality zippers that are easy to use. Team duffle bags should come with hand straps and a shoulder strap for easy carrying. Some team bags have a removable shoulder strap as well as separate zipper pouches for carrying shoes.

Also consider the colors and type of screen-printing available. Most sports equipment bag companies will offer a discount on large quantities. Logo screen-printing usually requires a one-time fee for set up, and you must provide a printer-ready copy of the team logo. Choose team bag colors to complement your logo. Some popular colors include navy, black, blue, red, green, yellow, maroon, and white.

Team player bags for basketball teams can also be personalized with the names of the players for an extra charge per bag. This can help prevent mix-ups with bags during sporting events.

You can order basketball sports equipment bags online easily and get great deals on large quantity orders, but be sure to consider shipping and set-up charges. Before ordering, ask your team players what color they would prefer and what type of bag would work best for them. Their input will be helpful in finding the perfect bags for your sports team! Use custom sports equipment bags to help every team player feel special game after game.

Brief History of the Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Team

Posted on Rabu, 30 November 2011 | 0 komentar

The AA folded in 1890 and the team switched to the NL as the Brooklyn Superbas. Under Ned Hanlon, the Superbas won the NL pennants in 1899 and 1900, becoming the only franchise in MLB history to win pennants in different leagues in successive years.

From 1901 until 1916, the team saw various ups and downs. Hanlon’s desire to own the team never materialized. He put himself heavily in debt and even invested heavily for the construction of Ebbets Field, which would become the Dodgers' home in 1913.

Under Manager Wilbert Robinson, popularly known as "Uncle Robbie”, the Dodgers won pennants in 1916
and 1920 with the line-up featuring players like pitcher Jeff Pfeffer and outfielder Zack Wheat. The club lost both World Series, to Boston and Cleveland, respectively.

In the late 1920s the team became known as the "Daffiness Boys" for their distracted, error-ridden style of play, probably because of Robinson’s helplessness to focus on the field after he assumed the title of president. He returned to manage the team to improve the performance of the team.

The Dodgers rebounded from a 20-year pennant drought in 1941 under Manager Leo Durocher, a former Brooklyn shortstop. The same season, the Dodgers introduced batting helmets to Major League Baseball. The following season, Branch Rickey was hired as president and general manager of the team. Rickey made history when he integrated the team after signing Negro League superstar Jackie Robinson in 1947. Robinson had an instant impact on the team. He along with teammates Pee Wee Reese, Arky Vaughan, and Gil Hodges led the club to the 1947 pennant. Robinson, Catcher Roy Campanella and pitcher Don Newcombe became the powerhouse of the team in the late 40s and early 50s. From 1949 to 1952, the Dodgers won six NL pennants with a World Series victory in 1955 against the Yanks.

In 1958 owner Walter O’Malley moved the club to Los Angeles. Manager Walter Alston led the Dodgers to
their second World Series victory in 1959. In the 1960s and early 1970s, he guided the Dodgers to four
more pennants. Moreover, the Dodger’s pitching staff during this era was invincible. The Dodgers defeated
the Yankees in the 1963 World Series, and two years later they bested the Minnesota Twins to take home
their fourth World Series title. Under Manager Walter Alston, the Dodgers won their last pennant in 1974.

In 1976, Future Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda became the team’s new manager. He managed the club for 22 seasons, leading it to four NL pennants and two World Series championships in 1981 and 1988. In 1992 the Dodgers finished the season in last place for the first time in 87 years of their existence. The team rebounded once again in 1994, 1995, and 1996 to claim the division titles. Before the start of the 1998
regular season playoffs, Australian-born media magnate Rupert Murdoch purchased the team. The logo of the team has Dodgers written in a blue script with a streaking baseball.
