The football world cup is creeping ever closer and the question that many of my friends are asking is whether our team England can win the tournament. In this article I give my opinion on this matter, I hope you enjoy the read.
I think that this year England have one of the best teams they have had since probably the early nineteen-nineties. In saying that however there are a number of other very strong teams which have the potential of ruining our and the teams dreams. I will write about these teams later in the article.
I think Steven Gerrard has been one of the most consistent players in the premiership over the last couple of seasons and he will be entering into this tournament in prime form. After lifting the champions league with Liverpool last season he will be hungry for more success. He truly is a world class player.
David Beckham has had mixed fortunes at Real Madrid. He has shown some good form at a time when the club have failed to win any silverware. Despite what some people may think, David will be one of the proudest members of the team if they prove successful. His performance against Greece a few years ago was one of the best I have ever seen.
Sven Goran Erickson has many critics but will be desperate for his own personal c.v to win the tournament. He may seem to have a lack of passion but would love to sign off his English career with what would be a huge success.
The biggest problem for England could be the fitness of Wayne Rooney. Will he or won't he play a role? If he does play a role, will it be at full fitness? If England had a fit Wayne Rooney I believe that they would have a great chance of lifting the trophy. The injury he picked up recently however, may in my opinion put pay to the teams hope of being able to win the tournament. I think they will do well but will just not have quite enough invention without Rooney to win it. I hope I am wrong of course.
Other teams to look out for include Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Portugal and France. I think as I am sure many other people do that Brazil will win the tournament. They have the most world class players out of any team and have plenty of experience of winning football matches.
If England do not win the world cup this year, I think it will be a big opportunity missed. I do not like their manager and feel that the team has not really progressed whilst he has been in charge.
Its time for all English supporters to get behind the team and to back them all the way. Forget causing trouble and lets have what could be one of the best summers for years. Come on England!

The responsibles for the construction of the stadium that will host the opening match between Costa Rica and Germany are the architects Herzog and DeMeuron; they opted for a similar construction as the old Munich Olympic stadium which was categorized as one of the most spectacular pieces of post-war architecture in Germany.
Its particular cover is made of acrylic tiles held by high steel masts. The circumference is 800 meters and it has a capacity of 66.000 seats.
The new stadium will look like an enormous Zeppelin with a length of 259 meters, 227 meters width and 50 meters height.
The structure is covered by a skin of more than 2784 pillows all puffed up with air and stuffed with up to eight light bulbs. The special skin floats above the 7 floors that compose the monumental stadium. The skin is made of a special material which will withstand heavy weather, snow, rain and also fireproof. Those pillows can be illuminated of different colors and all the seats are sheltered from the rain. With the largest parking area in Europe which has a capacity of 11.000 cars, the visitors will be guided by the colors of their teams.
Its name came up because of the Allianz insurance company which donated 110 hundred million Euros in order to have their logo and name associated with the considered the most attractive soccer stadium in the world for many people.
The total cost for this amazing soccer arena was 340 million Euros with another 300 million invested on the preparation for the World Cup inauguration of the first match of the tournament.

England’s Soccer Team Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, was caught making controversial revelations to an undercover journalist from the News of the World.
During this “interview”, Eriksson affirmed that in case England won the Soccer World Cup 2006, he would quit his job and find a new one managing the Aston Villa if they were taken over by a rich benefactor, even though he has a contract valid thru the year 2008.
As if that wasn’t enough, he also mentioned some names as David Beckham who according to Eriksson would return to play in the Premiership if he asked him to. The soccer coach also brought up that striker Michael Owen was unhappy at Newcastle, defender Rio Ferdinand was lazy and striker Wayne Rooney could have been a boxer like his father.
Two senior sources connected to the Football Association declared that if the revelations had emerged after the Soccer World Cup instead of before, the reaction would have been different.
Instead, Eriksson was asked to issue a statement and personally telephone the players involved.
Eriksson claims he has "no problem" with his soccer star players and insists he has not embarrassed them but his assistant Tord Grip admitted the expose had come as a shock to his fellow Swede.
