Should you use weights when you go to the gym?

Posted on Selasa, 30 November 2010 | 0 komentar
In any gym, you are going to find that the main features are two things: weights and weight machines. This is because weight training is such an important part of going to the gym: it is one of the most energy-burning kinds of exercise you can do, and it builds strength and muscle. If you go to the gym and don’t lift any weights, then you might as well have not gone at all.

The simplest way to weight train is to simply get the weights and lift them up, crouching down, picking up the weight, and then trying to lean back and unbend your knees to get back to a starting position. While this is simple, you can keep on making it more difficult forever simply by adding more weights to your pole – it is not difficult to make a weight that even the world’s strongest man couldn’t lift.

However, this kind of exercise tends to only exercise the same few muscles of your body over and over again. To make sure that you build muscles and get stronger all over, it is better to use weight machines.

Weight machines work in all sorts of different ways, but generally use either fluid or springs to create the illusion of weight, and then a system of wheels and pulleys to bring that weight to you. These materials create resistance without necessarily needing large weights, so you can set the difficulty of using the machine to artificially create weight level you want.

Each different weight machine is designed to train a different set of muscles in your body, which means that doing them all in a circuit will give you an all-over workout. Even if you find one machine particularly difficult, you shouldn’t leave it out, as doing this will create a weak point in your muscles that could be dangerous for you.

Bridgestone Tires - Taking A Drive

Posted on Senin, 29 November 2010 | 0 komentar
After a chance meeting between Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone in the late 1800´s the two collaborated on Ford’s first automobile. It was the man that ultimately was the impetus for Bridgestone Tires that helped Mr. Ford resolve his problem of supporting such a large weight and also to give the ride a smoother touch.

From the hand that the Bridgestone Tire creator played in a historic moment in the history of the United States, through countless other innovations, Bridgestone has been there. With something that the average person gives very little attention to unless a problem arises, it’s interesting to consider what aspects must be focused on to make a good, reliable tire. Bridgestone has given considerable attention in the area of wet handling and traction, tire punctures, tire wear, ride comfort, noise reduction, among countless other areas that are indeed essential, if we drivers and riders are to continue to “forget” about the things that our autos rest upon.

A glance over this list offers, perhaps, two thoughts. At first glance, perhaps some sense of the mundane is considered (wet handling and tire punctures don’ exactly elicit the most contentious debates). But, upon some reflection the importance of these contributions to our everyday lives can easily be witnessed. It is from this that much respect can and should be given to the entrepreneurs that have offered so much to out lives, like the individuals at Bridgestone Tires.

Do you take running seriously?

Posted on Minggu, 28 November 2010 | 0 komentar
If you were thinking of getting a treadmill for your home, you might not have realised how much trouble it can be. Instead, it is generally much easier to just join a gym.

A good gym will have the most expensive treadmills around, with all the extra luxury features there for you to take advantage of. They won’t be limited on space either, meaning that they can have the models that are big enough to run on comfortably without having to worry about straying a little from side to side.

If you take your running seriously, and will be doing some of your training using a treadmill, another advantage gyms have over home treadmills is that they can provide qualified instructors who know what they’re doing. They can set up the treadmill so it closely mirrors the conditions you’re going to be running in, and advise you on how much to run so you don’t strain any of your muscles. At home, you would just have to figure these things out for yourself.

Whether you are using a treadmill to get fit or training to be a runner, the social side of going to the gym is not to be underestimated. As everyone there is working towards the same goals – exercise and fitness – and has it as an interest in common, you can make good friends and motivate each other to try harder and not give up. Seeing the people who have been coming to the gym for a long time is a big part of going there, as it lets you see the results of what you’re doing long before you’ve achieved them for yourself. It’s all about motivation – and after all, if you’re just sitting at home, and the sofa is right there next to your treadmill, who’s going to motivate you to keep going?

Log Cabin Houses - A Dream In The Woods

Posted on Jumat, 26 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Once upon a time, log cabin houses were meant to be a home for people who worked near mines, or went hunting or stayed at the edge of the forest for similar activities. Today log cabins have become more of a holiday spot especially for those who love nature. Since most log cabins are situated near forests or near large green tracts of land, they afford a very good natural surrounding. Log cabin Houses are also made of natural material and exude a rustic air which itself is mostly appreciated by people who are very close to nature.

Staying at the log cabin house can make you feel very close to nature not only because of the wood finish of the house but because of the chirping of the birds, the cool wind which blows outside as well as the smell of the earth. You are definitely not going to find these things anywhere in the center of Manhattan. Many of us may not even know it, but we have a strong bond with nature. If you like, you can choose from a log cabin house situated either at the edge of the mountains or close to a water body.

The log cabin houses situated in the mountains are specially a perfect place for the nature lover. Not only is the view perfect and soothing to the eye it also provides an instant recharge to the body and soul. It has been scientifically proven that the color green is a perfect recharge to stressed eyes and mountain air can clear up the dust and grime which you might come across in the daily city life. So if you are a nature lover and need to get a really excellent weekend holiday, just head to the log cabin houses and let mother nature take over the rest.

Holmes on trial!

Posted on Kamis, 25 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Imagine a football star, 22 years old, with all the success ahead of him, on the verge of fulfilling his dreams of turning into a recognized star and now being involved in legal problems. What a way to screw up!

Santonio Holmes the first round draft choice of Pittsburg Steelers was ordered to stand trial next August 15. The reason is for stemming charges on assault and domestic violence incident which supposedly happened in June 19 concerning the mother of his five months year old baby.

Michael Brandt, Columbus Municipal Court Judge, set the date even when the victim is refusing to testify against Holmes, despite the situation the woman does not want to proceed with the charges. Holmes paid a $3.500 bond to remain free.

The worst thing for the player is that if the trial’s date remains, Holmes will be forced to leave the Steelers less than 3 weeks into his first NFL training camp.

But this is not the only case that involves Holmes and the law. He also has a hearing next Wednesday in Miami Beach for charges on disorderly conduct as a result of his arrest on Memorial Day weekend. This kind of behavior makes Holmes’ reputation to fall down and to be in real problems with the NFL, it could bring sanctions before he ever plays his first regular-season game.

Most people know how important is for a lot of college players to be picked up in a NFL draft, it can be the highest dream to reach for them on their careers, and the question remains … why some players do not take advantage of this kind of opportunities?

Importance of Gun Safes

Posted on Rabu, 24 November 2010 | 0 komentar
The importance of a gun safe in a person's life varies according to their requirements and utility of the safe. It is extremely important to understand the requirement and plan your actions accordingly.

Everyone has something or the other that is very important in their lives. Shoe boxes and junk drawers are the places where most of us store our most important documents and files and folders. By doing so one gives a burglar a chance to stink their lives as when they break into your home to steal things they will come across your stored documents also.

A person who has lost possession of his car title or even a house deed is found to be in a world of hurt. In reality the thing is that taking away things on whatever they can lay their hands on running around the house is what most thieves do without having any skills as thieves. To stop thieves from taking away the documents one must properly secure those documents. In order to do this one needs to have a secure safe. The benefit of a safe is that access to the valuables is permitted only to you and to those to whom you give the safe key or combination. From quite expensive safes to relatively cheap safes are among the various types of safes that can be found in the market.

The factors that determine which safe you should choose includes how much you can afford for the safe and what you intend to put in the safe. If one goes for a basic safe then it will be safe from an amateur but vulnerable to an expert. A majority of thieves can be eluded by opting for better and fancier safes. Another advantage is that safes come in all styles and sizes to suit the different needs of different people.

Finding World Cup Coverage

Latino Americans will be cheering on teams from the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Columbia, Brazil, and dozens of other countries during one of the biggest sporting events in the world-the World Cup. This summer, the event will be held in Germany and more than 3 million fans are expected to attend-but don't worry if you can't make it. There are plenty of ways to get soccer coverage here in the states.

As many soccer fans know, the FIFA World Cup is actually the final round of a larger two-year tournament. Countries in the larger tournament are split into leagues and 32 teams advance to the World Cup. What many may not know is that full coverage of the matches can be found on a spanish language sports broadcasting station aired over XM Satellite Radio.

The station teamed up with Futbol de Primera to broadcast games in English and Spanish and to bring in a host of experts to talk about the tournament. The broadcast team will be led by Andres Cantor, the renowned soccer broadcaster known for his trademark "GOOOOOOOOAAALLLL!" call. Another XM commentator will be Jeff Agoos, the Texas native and soccer champion who retired from the sport in 2005. Nicknamed "Goose," Agoos won five Major League Soccer championships, and he was a member of the U.S. team at the 1998 and 2002 World Cup tournaments.

The station, which also carries baseball, boxing and non World Cup soccer matches, will include:

• Coverage of the Mexican National Team

• 2006 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: CONCAF

• 2006 FIFA World Cup Qualifying: South America

• 2006 FIFA World Cup: Final Draw

• Mexican League Game of the Week

Michelin Tires - Ramblings From a Fan

Posted on Senin, 22 November 2010 | 0 komentar
It was in 2002 that Edouard Michelin articulated the mission of the North American tire manufacturing company with impressive eloquence, while truly encapsulating the driving force behind the company for so many years. Mr. Michelin stated, "We have one profession and one mission: contribute to long-term progress in the field of mobility."

The statement itself could at first glance appear slightly overly dramatic, until one considers, not only the importance of the field that Michelin Tires works within, but also the work and the advances the company has made.

Michelin Tires does research and development, production and sales in the different areas of: motorcycles, trucks, heavy-duty construction equipment, agricultural machines, aircrafts and, of course, cars. This is quite a list for a company that has more public awareness dedicated to a plump albino than for putting years of innovation to ensure that airplanes can land safely or that farmers can operate more efficiently to ultimately put food on the tables of countless families.

So, since 1889 the makers of Michelin Tires, the Michelin Group, has quietly gone about the business of making the lives of people everywhere better and safer. And with such a high commitment of research and continued innovation, it appears that we can rest assured that we’ll continue to be able to live safer for years to come.

Discount Baseball Bats - How To Get Them For Slashed Prices

Posted on Minggu, 21 November 2010 | 0 komentar
A good baseball bat can hit a good homerun and win an entire game. So it's no wonder that players demand premium baseball bats. But great baseball bats don't always have to be expensive! While a high-end bat can go for over $100 easily, there are discount baseball bats that cost as little as $20!

A well-kept secret is that unused, quality baseball bats are drastically discounted if they are merely blemished! These discount baseball bats are hard to find sometimes, but they usually sell at a typical baseball bat dealer and are an awesome investment. You can be swinging a superior baseball bat without having to pay the same prices as other batters.

You can easily find other kinds of discount baseball bats too. The best place to start looking is on the web. This is because there is less overhead for online stores. But there is plenty of sporting equipment outlets (like Easton) that have them as well.

Picking out the perfect baseball bat is a complicated and personal process for the serious baseball player, but that does not mean that there is not money to be saved. On the other hand, there are very specific advantages to getting discount baseball bats. You wouldn't want to wear out your lucky $200 bat on just practice. In the long run it's much better to use cheap baseball bats as disposable sports instruments while you practice. An added advantage to this is that you underwhelming yourself by practicing with cheap baseball bats. Just imagine your batting precision and power when using your money bat after all that practicing with disposable bats!

Youth Baseball Bats - A Quick Primer

Posted on Sabtu, 20 November 2010 | 0 komentar
It seems that for such a simple, single-purpose object like a baseball bat, it would be easy to buy one for your athletic son or daughter. But the truth is, there are all kinds of baseball bats. Fear not, the following basics will guide you in the right direction to getting the sure-shot baseball bat your son or daughter desire.

In official leagues, youth baseball bats are sometimes traditional and wooden but more often than not, they are aluminum. Aluminum bats weren't truly introduced until the 1970's and these youth baseball bats are smaller, lighter, but a lot more powerful, than their wooden counterparts. So when shopping for your child's baseball bat, first investigate what kind of bat is required for their league and then determine what length and width is preferable. From then on, it's mostly about body composition and the way the bat interacts with the body during swinging motion.

Longer bats have a better chance of hitting that ball, but the lighter the bat, the more powerful a batter's swing and the faster and farther the ball will go! Also, a thick barrel on a baseball bat can mean a more powerful hit, but at the same time it will also weigh down the bat. It all comes down to your preferred batting style.

For the best prices out there, compare youth baseball bats on the web with those of your local sports equipment stores - you can usually save a lot of money online. Also, since you are not allowed to swing a baseball bat around at a store, sometimes practicing with different bats at a batting range is a good way to pick out the prefect baseball bat.

Buying a Used Pool Table

Posted on Jumat, 19 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Used pool tables are frequently available. Keep an eye on your local classified section for moving sales, yard sales, estate sales, and so on. You’re sure to run across something eventually.

When shopping for used pool tables, ask all the same questions you would if you were buying a new pool table. What size is it: 7, 8, or 9 feet? What are the body, bed, and cloth made out of?

If the body is made out of more than one piece of solid wood or other material, check the connections for wear and tear. How sturdy is the table? Crawl underneath the table and have a look, as if you were a car mechanic. Stand next to the table and give a shake or two, back and forth, and side to side. Bring a carpentry level with you. Set the table on even ground (as gauged with the level) and test the bed with the level. Shoot a couple of games of pool on it. How does the action feel? Is the ball trajectory hampered by inconstancies in the felt, either on the surface or in the cushions? How well preserved are the cushions? Do they have any tender spots? Are they sagging anywhere?

Furthermore, ask whether the bed comprised of one solid sheet of slate, or divided into three sections that can crease the playing surface along two lines? You can test this yourself but running a hand over the felt where the table is divided crosswise into three sections. If you feel a bump, perhaps this used pool table is not right for you.

A good used pool table is a great find that can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Tires: an important Fact on Grand Prix Races

Posted on Kamis, 18 November 2010 | 0 komentar
The Grand Prix of Europe, the fifth race of the 2006 campaign, takes place at Nürburgring which opened in 1984. It has hosted 13 F1 world championship events under three different names: the GP of Europe (1984, 1995-1996, 1999-2005), the German GP (1985) and the Luxembourg GP (1997-1998).

This Grand Prix track has the fame of having such an unpredictable weather it adds a special element to the anxiety of the race. This is the 16th season for the Grand Prix of Europe. Before, it had been hosted in Spain (Jerez) and England (Brands Hatch and Donington Park).

For the F1 competitors the biggest challenge has been selecting tire compounds for this track because of the variability of the weather. This might be more of a factor than ever because the race is taking place three weeks earlier than it did last season so the weather turns even more unpredictable. As a result, the F1 tires require a fairly broad operating spectrum, in other words they have to be fast and consistent even if the weather forecasts are 100 per cent inaccurate, as they were at Imola.

On the evidence of previous seasons, conditions could border on freezing yet could just as easily nudge 30°C. As for the possibility of rain, that holds no worries, the lap times recorded during free practice for the Australian Grand Prix indicated just how much progress F1 has been making in the subject of tiring.

Monaco Grand Prix 2006 & Kimmi Raikkonen

Posted on Rabu, 17 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Last year’s champion Kimmi Raikkonen expects to win once again the world’s most famous street circuit trophy: The Monaco Grand Prix which will take place next Sunday May 28.

Every F1 pilot wants to win the most famous race of the F1 calendar, since it is one of the slowest and hardest, due to its narrowness, and the fact that it is full of bumps and twists. Because of this, pilots can hardly over-take the other cars and any mistake can be critical. Consequently, pilots need to secure a good grid position.

Spaniard Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher have ruled in the last Formula One races while Raikkonen and his team: McLaren- Mercedes haven’t been that lucky. Between the years of 1984 and 1993 a McLaren car won eight out of nine years, with Ayrton Senna (Brazil) and Alain Prost (France) as pilots. Although from the last twelve races, the team McLaren- Mercedes has won only four times. The last victory was brought by Raikkonen a year ago.

In general, speeds aren’t high in the Monaco Grand Prix. Cars may reach a maximum of 290kph when they get to the famous tunnel, but the speed for a lap is less than 145kph. Therefore engineers must work on the low speed handling of the vehicle.

The race’s distance is 78 laps and the circuit length is 2.075 miles (3.340 kms). Monaco Grand Prix is always held on the next weekend after the Ascension Day.

Pool Hall Hanging Out

Posted on Selasa, 16 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Hanging at the pool hall.

This is how I spent a great deal of my time in my early years. We have many bars and pool rooms here in Pueblo Colorado. There have only been a couple however referred to as the pool hall.

The three establishments that were referred to by that name sold no alcohol. They were straight out pool rooms with a few video games. There is only one of these left here in Pueblo now. The name of the place is the gCorner Cigar Storeh.

You will find six 9Œ pool tables there and most of them are antique Brunswick tables. We used to gather there on almost a daily basis and play everything from one pocket to ring 9 ball. (ring game = 3 or more players and usually for money)

I had a few gambling matches there that lasted all night and into the next day. I liked to show up early and shoot some practice drills before the action started. There is nothing like a little wager on a nice game of pocket billiards.

With a busy schedule and a family to take care of, I donft get to play much pool during the day anymore. When I do play it is usually league night which is always in a bar (tavern).

Maybe someday when life allows retirement, I can resume that old favorite activity of spending the day at the pool hall. For now the memories will have to do.

My game is probably twice as strong these days, so if there is still good action there it should be profitable. Playing where there is no alcohol is also cool when it comes to buying a round of drinks. I hope the sodas didnft go up in price too much.

To Your Run Out Success.

The Winner Arrived To The Indy Japan 300

Posted on Senin, 15 November 2010 | 0 komentar
The Indy Japan 300 has a new champion. After Dan Wheldon monopolized the championship for the last two years, a new winner has raised: Helio Castroneves. The pilot claimed his second straight win of the season on the IndyCar Series. The first one was the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Dan Wheldon was on the run towards becoming the first IndyCar Series pilot to triumph three straight years at the same track, but it just wouldn’t happen because Castroneves had different plans.

This is the first time Castroneves wins in Japan. He stood out from the other drivers during the 200 lap race. By the moment he crossed the finish line last year’s champion: Dan Wheldon was 6.3851 seconds away.

When Castroneves assured his victory, he got out of his strong Dallara car, and with his own traditional celebration, he climbed the fence to show everyone he had won at the 1.5-mile Twin Ring Motegi circuit north of Tokyo.

The 93 points that the pilot had accumulated during the IRL championship worked out just fine for him as he got to start the race from the pole position. This, but most of all his driving skills helped him to lead for 184 laps and finally obtain the victory over all the other pilots.

Twice FIFA World Player of the Year - Ronaldinho and his achievements

The famous Brazilian soccer player Ronaldo de Assis Moreira known as Ronaldinho has been awarded twice as the World Player of the Year by the FIFA; he also has achieved the title of the European Footballer of the Year and the FIFPro World Player of the Year.

He picked the name “Ronaldinho” to distinguish himself from the other Brazilian soccer player who has the same name “Ronaldo’. He is part of the Spaniard Club Barcelona team and helped them win the league title season. This was a great honor for Spain and also to his native country Brazil, for being such a successful footballer.

When the classification was made, each coach and captain of every national team voted for their top player choice from a specific list of candidates drawn up by the world governing body. Spanish-based players have won awards for the last four years.

Ronaldinho loves the Barcelona club, he said no amount of money would temp him away from the team. “I’m extremely happy at Barcelona and I can not imagine being as happy anywhere else”, said Ronaldinho in a news conference the day after the victory over the English Club Chelsea earning a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Beach one of our favourite places?

Posted on Sabtu, 13 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Beaches are lots of people’s favourite places to go: whether it’s for holidays or just for days out, beaches hold a lot of happy memories for millions.

Most beaches are by the sea, although beaches can also form by the side of large rivers and lakes, and in many parts of the world these beaches are visited just as much as the more well-known sea beaches. Also, when most people think of a beach they think of sand, but that isn’t always the case either: beaches can also be made of pebbles, shingle, or any other kind of rocks that have been washed up there by the sea or some other kind of water.

When you visit a beach, there are lots of things that you shouldn’t forget to take. All your beach clothes are an essential, as well as towels, and kids’ toys like buckets and spades for making sandcastles. You might also want to take a surfboard or even an inflatable boat with you – if you pay a visit to a beach shop sometime, you can see that the possibilities are only limited by your imagination and your wallet.

There are also lots of games you can bring with you and play on the beach, including beach cricket or baseball, boules, volleyball, football, noughts and crosses in the sand, beach darts, frisbee, and lots more besides.

If you can’t get to a beach, though, you don’t need to worry. More and more artificial beaches are being built in towns, so that children there can have all the fun of the seaside even though they live nowhere near the sea. They often consist of sand that has been brought by lorry, and water jets squirting from the ground to make a kind of interactive fountain that people can play in.

Great For Beginners - The Inflatable Sit-On-Top Kayak

Posted on Jumat, 12 November 2010 | 0 komentar
For beginners, inflatable kayaks are usually the place to start learning. Sit-on-top models have introduced many people to this growing sport.

Inflatable kayaks are a great way to go for leisure and recreational purposes. Inflatable sit-on-top kayaks are becoming more popular. Kayaking is catching on as the sport that everyone wants to try.

For those who can't spend much money or who may not yet be serious about kayaking, an inflatable kayak may be the place to begin. They are adequate, and a variety of models are available, just like their hard-shell brothers.

Inflatable, sit-on-top kayaks work on any type of water. They are durable enough to go into rough waters without being punctured. Sit-on-top kayaks usually have two seats on top of the kayak instead of a seat inside like normal kayaks.

The advantage for beginners is the different style and technique of kayaking gained by sitting on top of the boat. Beginners may want to try an inflatable, sit-on-top kayak. Traveling with them is easier, and storing them is, too.

You want to make your first kayak experience the best that it can be. You will likely love the sport if you have the best equipment. Inflatable, sit-on-top kayaks have advantages, including comfort and the fact that you may well be more confident when you are on top of, instead of inside, the kayak.

Top brands such as Hobie Cat and Coleman have unbeatable kayaks, so quality will never be a problem.

Winter Olympics: Canada Lost Another Athlete

Posted on Kamis, 11 November 2010 | 0 komentar
During the Winter Olympics tournament, the Canadian alpine ski team lost a second racer to injury. Allison Forsyth of Nanaimo, British Columbia, who is one of the country's top medal threats in long-track speed skating failed to live up to expectations.

The athlete shredded her left anterior cruciate ligament during training for Wednesday's downhill therefore she had to be treated in a hospital and returned to Sestriere where the Olympics team is staying. She will fly to Calgary where she will immediately have surgery. But she is not giving up, the 27-year-old plans to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

This is the second disappointment for the Canadian alpine team. Erik Guay of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, a medal contender, missed Sunday's men's downhill with a leg injury.

Jason Witten is growing in the NFL

Posted on Rabu, 10 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Jason Witten is known as one of the youngest players in the tight end position who is considered a league’s elite. Witten is a two-time Pro Bowl and plays for the Dallas Cowboys.

Witten has signed a millionaire contract of six years more with the team which originally picked him in the third round choice in the 2003 draft. Despite the new agreement the player has been eligible also for a free agency next year.

The contract is from $28 to $29 million and it includes $12 million of guarantees as the initial signing bonus of $6 million and an optional bonus of $6 million for next spring. Definitely, the numbers are showing how vital is the player in the league and the development of his game as a tight end player.

24 years-old Witten’s game skills are getting better by the season and up to this point he has participated in three regular ones. In 2004 the player had 87 receptions for 980 yards and six touchdowns becoming one of the top 12 seasons in professional football history for a tight end.

Furthermore, the 2005 season was not such a good one for Witten, but he is in the process of establishing himself as one of the NFL’s premier middle-range receivers. Witten has appeared in 47 games, with 38 starts, 188 receptions for 2,084 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Additionally, the Cowboys are planning to set a firm end as their base formation in 2006 with Anthony Fasano projected as a starter.

The Best of the Warriors in 11 Years

Posted on Selasa, 09 November 2010 | 0 komentar
There is a new feeling in Oakland, a fanatical town crazy for NBA.

The Warriors have been on a winning streak since last February, when they finished last season with 18 wins in 28 games. If they keep up the strong play behind their 12-6 start to this season, Baron Davis and his new teammates just might us something to celebrate in April.

Even after dropping three of their last four games, the Warriors began a five-game road trip this weekend with their best 22-game start since 1991. They briefly reached first place in the Pacific Division for the first time since 1992.
The Warriors haven't been a team worth watching this last few years but Coach Mike Montgomery has turned the declining Warriors into a team that you want to see in action. The team has produced a lot of great moments in every game with no-look passes and impossibly tough lay-ups, while two-time dunk contest champion Richardson is polishing his skills.

Sometimes it doesn't work: Though the Warriors set season highs with 15 3-pointers on 37 attempts in Wednesday's game against Houston, they lost in overtime when they couldn't protect an 11-point lead in the final 4 minutes of regulation.

Clearly, this transformation won't happen overnight -- but in Oakland, patience is part of the game.

Unusual Baseball Statistics - I Love ‘em

I have been fascinated by some of the statistics that have been amassed by some of the major leaguers. Viewing some players numbers has amazed me. My Baseball memorabilia are these amazing stats.

Here are a few achievements I thought might interest you.

Rogers Hornsby - From 1921 to 1925 he batted 2679 times and He hit safely 1078 times. An average of .402 during this five year run. Not too shabby.
From ages 36 to 41 - his final six years in the Majors Rogers batted 350 times in total. He hit safely 105 times and fell 70 hits short of 3000 hits for his career. Maybe he could have planned better

Lou Gehrig - From 1930 to 1934 he drove in 813 runs. An average of 162 RBIs per year - Enough said The man was a run producing machine

Ty Cobb - He had 1937 RBIs in his career and never hit more than 12 home runs in a single year. Seven times he knocked in over 100 runs.

Runs Batted In - This following stats are based on a per game basis. Here are a few of the highest numbers. No one player averaged one rbi per game for his career. Lou Gehrig .921 - Hank Greenburg .915 - Joe Dimaggio .885
Jimmie Foxx .859. Hey where’s The Babe?

These RBIs statistics are based on a per at bat basis. Here are some of the highest numbers. Babe Ruth .263 - Lou Gehrig .249 - Hank Greenburg .249

I hope you enjoyed these unusual stats.

Feel free to pass this on to anyone you think would enjoy the read.

Investigation of steroid use in Baseball Sports World

Posted on Minggu, 07 November 2010 | 0 komentar
A deep investigation has been developed in the Baseball world after the use of steroid by Barry Bond, as the Major League Baseball reported.

According with the information given, the baseball player has been taken steroids, human growth hormone and insulin for the last five seasons, since 1998.

Two recent books have revealed the case, these are: ‘Game of Shadows” written by two Chronicle reporters from San Francisco and “Love me, Hate me: Barry Bonds and the Making of an Antihero” by Jeff Pearlman.

The investigation will be headed by the U.S Senate majority leader George Mitchell. Additional declarations have confirmed that baseball player Bonds and any other player that is a part of this investigation will be allowed to play while the case is developing.

On the other hand, according to an unknown source of the New York Daily News, the baseball player does not want to cooperate with the investigation.

In Baseball there were no tests for performance-enhancing drugs until the 2002 season. It would be hard to penalize any baseball player for the use of these substances before September 30, 2002, when the joint drug agreement was created. Baseball players’ tests started in 2003 and the penalty followed in 2004.

World Cup 2006 And A New Communication System

Posted on Sabtu, 06 November 2010 | 0 komentar
A new communication system for referees is being implemented and hopefully will be ready for the World Cup 2006 that starts in Germany on June 9th.

It will be a way for the referee to communicate with the two assistants and the fourth official during the game. Last December FIFA rejected the idea of a smart ball, system that would avoid mistakes on goal line decisions but the Federation decided that it needed more testing so that it wouldn’t be ready for the next World Cup.

Three different systems are being tested in Zurich to choose one of them. Another option they have in mind during this process is to improve one of the three systems taking the best of each one.

Two important details that are being tested are: make sure that there is no interference in the communication and that people won’t be able to listen into the referees conversations.
The 44 refereeing trios still in the running for World Cup places got together last Tuesday for a four-day workshop in order to test their knowledge of the game, skills in English, ability to manage with stress, interpretation of the rules of the game and levels of mental and physical fitness.
On March 31st FIFA is going to decide how many referee teams will be used during the World Cup. This number shouldn’t be higher then 36.

History of England Football

Posted on Jumat, 05 November 2010 | 0 komentar
The oldest (but not wisest) League in the world was founded in 1888, and initially consisted of 12 clubs in the midlands and north of England. The FA cup, which initially embraced both Scottish and southern "non - league" clubs, had already been going since 1872. It was not called the English League as initially it hoped it would grow to include Scottish clubs, but these later (1890) formed their own league instead.

A second division was added by absorbing the rival Football Alliance in 1892, and by 1899 it had 36 member clubs. Initially the bottom four clubs had to apply for (re) - election, but this was reduced to three (1895/6), then two (1898/9), before reverting to four (two each for the regional Division 3-s) in 1920/1. Between 1893 and 1898 "test matches" (an early form of play - offs) were used to decide all promotion issues between the two divisions. The league stopped between 1915 and 1919 for the First World War, but resumed in the latter year with 40 clubs. The league was still largely northern - and midlands - based, so in 1920 virtually the entire First Division of the rival southern League was absorbed as the FL-s Third Division. The following year a further batch of clubs from the midlands and north were added to make two regional Division 3`s, North and South.

Stopping again for the Second World War (1940 - 1946), it saw the creation of Division 4 in 1958, expansion by four clubs to 92 in 1959 and the start of the League Cup in 1960.

How To Build A Snowboard Jump

Posted on Kamis, 04 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Find a hill with tons of snow and follow these simple instructions on how to build your own snowboard jump.

Here's What You Need To Do:

1. Find a location. Preferable somewhere that starts with a nice easy slope and then gets steeper, be sure there is enough run off room for your landing.

2. Break out the snow shovels, there is light weight ones available. Pile up the snow.

3. Snowboards can act as good scaffolding at the front of the jump.

4. Pack down the snow, your board will do best, just hang on to the bindings and start smoothing out with the base. If the hill is steep enough you shouldn’t need much of a lip.

5. Don’t forget the run in...Make sure you have a clean approach. There’s nothing like having to back out because the approach is too rough.

6. The test run. Usually the sucker friend (spends half the year in casts). Fine tune it until you are flying high!
Tips:
1. Try to hit from different spots and figure out the smoothest landing zone.

2. The best way to learn new tricks is by practice. Just keep hitting them and hitting them. Before you know it you’ll be pulling monster tricks.

3. These instructions are not recommended to use while in resorts as they usually have on hill jumps already built and regulated. Try to find a place away from those sorts of places.

What You Will Need:
• Shovel
• Hill
• Snow
• The Need To Ride

Fine Day for the NBA

Posted on Rabu, 03 November 2010 | 0 komentar
In a game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett was frustrated for being called for an offensive foul and reacted by tossing the basketball into the first few rows underneath the basket. The ball apparently hit a male fan, who was wheeled away to the sound of loud booing. Despite the fact that the fan appeared to be uninjured, Garnett was ejected from the game. Today he was fined $5,000 by the NBA.

Garnett’s teammate, Ricky Davis, was also fined $5,000 by the NBA for kicking a ball into the stands in a loss to the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was also fined today for throwing an elbow at Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who needed five stitches on his bleeding forehead. The incident occurred in the first quarter of the game on Sunday when Ilgauskas drove to the hoop. Wallace was called for a flagrant foul, which was subsequently upgraded to a flagrant foul two by the NBA.

Wallace did not appear to deny that the elbow was intentional, saying “I’m not going to start the game by cracking a cat in the skull if I don’t get elbowed first.”

Asked if Wallace should have been suspended, Ilgauskas said, “It’s not up to me. You just leave it up to the league.”

Wallace and Ilgauskas will meet again Monday night, as the Pistons and Cavs play in Cleveland.

Cuban Cigars

Posted on Selasa, 02 November 2010 | 0 komentar
Global demand for Cuban cigars continues to grow hand in hand with the thriving counterfeit cigar market. Cigar Aficionado magazine estimates that 80 to 90 percent of Cuban Cigars sold in the United States are counterfeit cigars. Many vendors may be unaware they may infact be selling counterfeit Cuban cigars.

There are many ways to ensure that the cigars purchased are infact authentic. So how does one detect a counterfeit cigar ?

One of the most important things to remember when buying Cuban cigar is this one basic rule: “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is !”

One of the easiest ways to spot a fake Cuban cigar is to inspect the band. The bands should have a solid colour and be consistently the same.

The cigar wrapper shouldn't have large veins as all veins should be very fine. The cigars should also be the same size and within 1/16th of an inch of each other. This is also one of the easiest ways to spot a counterfeit.

Based on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia, La Casa De Puros specialise in Cuban cigars and are one of the biggest online Cuban cigar retailers. La Casa De Puros source all Cuban cigars, including Cohiba, Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta from the official distributors of Habanos S.A. for Asia Pacific. Buying from an authorised Habanons distributor is the easiest way to guarantee quality, authenticity and peace of mind.

How to Make a Bow and Arrow

Posted on Senin, 01 November 2010 | 0 komentar
It's easy to make your own archery kit, once you have the right equipment. For this you need: a 5-foot branch and a 1 or 2 foot branch for the arrow; hemp string; feathers; flint stone or metal; dead sticks of about 12 to 18 inches; feathers; cardboard; and a knife.

For the bow, choose a piece of dead wood, preferably bendable and at least an inch in diameter and 5 foot long. Cut two notches in the branch, about 1 1/2 inches from each end. The notches should go about halfway into the bow and must be on the side of the bow opposite from the branch's natural curve.

The smaller branches are for the arrows. Make these as straight as possible, sanding them if needed. Cut one notch at the end of the arrow, creating a nice hook. This is where the string will sit at the end of the arrow, so make a nice deep groove.

Next cut a piece of your hemp string about three fourths of the length of the bow. It must be smaller than the bow. Tie loops at each end of the string that are big enough to fit around the notch that you made in the last step. Take the loops that you just tied and put them around the notches on each end of the stick.

Now take the cardboard papers and cut them into elongated triangles. The legs (bottom) should be approximately 1.25 inches by 1-3/4 inches. Once you have about 6 of them cut out (for 2 arrows) glue them about .25 inches from the bottom of the arrow. Keep in mind you should keep them evenly spaced from each other. They should provide for balance, accuracy, and a nice spin when the arrow is released.
