Controversy Factors Take Over the US Masters

Posted on Jumat, 07 Januari 2011 | 0 komentar
Controversy has taken over the US Masters in the past few weeks; to begin with we have the Masters officials lengthening of Augusta National Golf Club, making it one of the hardest courses to play in now. The organizers state that the whole point in stretching the par course from 7,290 yards to 7,445 yards is to keep up with technology advances in the players’ equipment.

Now the players are raising doubts whether or not the last changes on the field have gone too far too quickly. Some of us might even wonder if this change in the length just made the Augusta course too advantageous for the long hitters, this reduces the possible winners to about 10 players.

And to add up to the length of the filed controversy stress a hot and dry, weather delays have eased woes in seven of the past eight years. Monday's opening practice round for the year's first major championship came with predictions for warm and sunny weather with only a slight chance of rain on Saturday, dream conditions for making Augusta's undulating greens faster and therefore more difficult.

But at least wet greens allow approach shots to stick onto the tricky trademark putting surfaces of Augusta National. Hot and dry weather promises pavement-like putting surfaces with amazing curves and twists.
Players wise, Woods' arrival eased worries he might miss the Masters because of his father’s poor health. Now that he is at Augusta National, rivals are looking for a way to stop him from an unprecedented second back-to-back Masters title.

So what is the appeal of skateboarding?

Posted on Kamis, 06 Januari 2011 | 0 komentar
Skateboarding is currently enjoying yet another wave of popularity, after the skateboarding booms of the ‘50s and ‘80s. This time it is being led by charismatic skateboarders like Tony Hawk, widely considered the most famous skateboarder ever, and skate-parks have been built in many towns and cities especially to accommodate it.

So what is the appeal of skateboarding? It is primarily popular among teenage boys, but adults often fail to understand the reasons why. One big factor seems to be that it is a sport where not even the very best practitioners can do everything they want to, meaning that there is always room for improvement, and always room for someone else to be better than you.

To begin with, skateboarding was largely seen as something undesirable, like graffiti – a form of anti-social behaviour – primarily because so much skateboarding took place on the street, scaring pedestrians. Today, however, skateboarding has largely stopped being seen this way, and has instead been embraced by youth workers and others who deal with teens as a legitimate sport. Skating today has a subculture of its own, with punkish skater music and skater fashion, and it is easily one of the more popular subcultures, alongside goth and emo, dwarfing the popularity of the surf culture that it grew out of.

Modern skateboarding today is a rich sport, with a dazzling array of tricks: anyone who has played one of the Tony Hawk video games will no doubt have been confused by the huge array of odd-sounding trick names, but skaters try to practice and perfect each one individually, and each one can take months or even years to ‘land’ (pull off) for the first time. The nature of skateboarding is such that even once you have mastered all the existing tricks, you can try to take them further by turning another 180 degrees in the air, or even start to invent new tricks of your own.

First Teams To Classify To The World Cup Second Round

Posted on Rabu, 05 Januari 2011 | 0 komentar
At first, there were thirty two teams competing for a common goal in Germany: make their best effort and classify to the next round. Three countries have already achieved this. Germany, England and Ecuador have earned their tickets to the next round of the FIFA World Cup 2006. Costa Rica, Poland and Paraguay have been eliminated.

World Cup host country Germany, is leading Group A along with Ecuador, with 6 points each one while Costa Rica and Poland have no points.

England is having its best streak since World War II as they have won eight straight games. The final score on the game between England and Trinidad y Tobago was 2-0 with goals scored by Crouch who broke the deadlock in Nuremberg with a headed goal in the 83rd minute and his Liverpool teammate Gerrard that added a second goal in the 91st minute.

Wayne Rooney, who currently plays for the Manchester United, entered the game in the second half to replace Michael Owen as England was trying to complete a goal. This was Rooney’s first game since he broke a bone in his foot on April 29.

England is leading Group B with six points. They won the three points on each of both games played. Sweden earned three points as they won the match against Paraguay eliminating the South Americans. Trinidad y Tobago remains on one point.

Gun Safes - Size Matters

Posted on Senin, 03 Januari 2011 | 0 komentar
Protecting our office or homes from each and every burglary or theft is not possible. However safes provide additional safety to our valuable possessions, and always act as an added protection. Safes can be used for two purposes, firstly, storing precious items like jewelry, diamonds etc. and secondly, for storing, dangerous goods or items like guns, chemicals, bullets, etc.

People all over the world are killed everyday due to accidental gun shots. Such accidents can be prevented, by keeping guns locked in a gun safe, away from hands of kids, thieves, and other unwanted people. Fire proof or fire resistant safes also protect the guns, in case of a fire breaks out in the house.

Again, the size of the safe should be determined by the number of guns you possess, or are planning to purchase, and their sizes. Bigger the safe, more costly it will be, if you don't compromise on the quality of the metal. Generally people buy smaller safes if they have pistols only. The shelves in such safes are easily removable and hence you can easily arrange the guns in whatever manner you like.

The benefit of having smaller safes is that, they can easily be hidden under the bed or in the cupboard or somewhere where it is not noticeable. Safes for rifles and shotgun are bigger in size and are much more difficult to move, this is an added advantage, and provides a greater degree of security. Smaller safes should be drilled in the floor or the wall, if portability is not needed (in most cases it isn't).

You need to decide your budget before the purchase - Better the quality of the material, or higher the degree of durability, more expensive will the safe be. It is up to the owner to decide whether he needs the particular type of safe, and the best quality and degree of durability which he is getting for the price he is paying.

Throwback Jerseys

America's national pastime - baseball. Way back when, baseball was a gentlemen game, and the players were devoted to it. They were paid very little money and even less attention. Today, of course, people who love baseball have had their illusions shattered with controversy over steroid use, home run records, and so many other scandals. But if you really and truly just love the game of baseball and miss the days when it was pure sport, what to do? The answer is simple - proudly wear a classic throwback baseball jersey. These great items celebrate the sport back when it was just that - a sport. When the players earned their records through practice and skill, and maybe just a bit of luck, but not with "juicing" and other dangerous shortcuts. Wearing a throwback baseball jersey is a great way to honor the legacies of the sport and to show that you will never give up on the game, no matter who tries to taint it.

If you're going to choose a throwback baseball jersey for yourself or as a gift, start by considering their hometown or favorite team. Are they from Chicago? Then of course you'll get the Cubs. If it's New York, are they Yankees or Mets fans? A throwback baseball jersey is a personal statement, so be sure you know exactly which team or player they'll be rooting for - a Yankees fan wearing a Mets jersey is going to get a lot of strange looks at the sports bar!

Maybe you're not sure which team or which player you want to honor with a throwback baseball jersey. Do not fret, there are many that are made up that are not any one particular team but that closely resemble uniforms of days past. No matter which you will choose, you'll be proud to show off your genuine love for a genuine game with your own throwback baseball jersey.

Since being dubbed the American national pastime, baseball has captivated American and international audiences for over a century. After rounds of expansion in 1977 and 1993, baseball's post season added another level of games in 1994 (although not played until 1995), when the leagues were restructured into three divisions each and a wild card team was added to the playoff mix.
